La Rocca in Azolo is an oval-shaped fortress that was built between the 12th and 13th centuries. The fortress is located on a high mountain called Monte Rico. The height above sea level reaches 310 meters. This fortification was built as a defense against attacks on the city. A military garrison was located in the fortress. Even on the approach to Azolo, the fortress can be seen from afar. Its dimensions are impressive. And the closer I got, the bigger and more powerful it became. La Rocca is built of stone. The walls are 15 meters high and 2.5 meters wide. The walls of the fortress have a serrated finish.

Ла Рокка в Азоло це фортеця овальної форми, що була побудована між 12 і 13 століттями. Фортеця знаходиться на високій горі, що має назву Монте - Рікко. Висота над рівнем моря сягає 310-ти метрів. Це укріплення було збудоване як захист від нападів на місто. В фортеці розміщався військовий гарнізон. Ще на підході до Азоло фортецю видно здалеку. Розміри її вражають. І чим ближче я підходила тим більшою і могутнішою вона ставала. Ла Рокка побудована з каменю. Стіни мають у висоту 15 метрів, а ширина стін 2,5 метрів. Стіни фортеці мають зубчасте завершення.
The road to the fortress of La Rocca, as you can see in the photos, goes uphill. You have to make a lot of effort to overcome these 2.5 kilometers. I stopped several times to rest and drink water. But she still reached the fortress.

I passed through the only gate inside the fortress. In order to climb the wall, you need to buy a ticket for 3 euros. But first I wanted to examine everything that is on earth. A picture of the fortress is placed on the table. So I went to see the reservoir well and the ancient mosaic, which remained from the time of the construction of the fortress. This mosaic was discovered during excavations conducted by scientists from the University of Padua.
Я пройшла через єдині ворота всередину фортеці. Для того щоб зійти на стіну потрібно купити квиток за 3 євро. Але спершу я хотіла оглянути все, що знаходиться на землі. На таблиці розміщено малюнок фортеці. То ж я пішла оглянути колодязь водозбірник та древню мозаїку, яка залишилась ще з часів побудови фортеці. Ця мозаїка була виявлена під час розкопок, які вели вчені Падуанського університету.
I climbed the iron stairs to the wall of the La Rocca fortress. From a height of 15 meters, a wonderful 360° panorama of the surrounding villages and the city of Azolo opened before me. I went around the entire fortress along their perimeter and examined and photographed everything I saw.
По залізних сходах я піднялася на стіну фортеці Ла Рокка. З висоти 15 метрів переді мною відкрилася чудова панорама на навколишні села та місто Азоло на всі 360°. Я обійшла всю фортецю по їх периметру і розглядала та фотографувала все, що побачила.
From the height of the walls of the fortress of La Rocca, all the nearby houses seemed small, as if they were made of Lego. And the roads wound around the hill like snakes.
З висоти стін фортеці Ла Рокка всі довколишні будинки здавалися маленькими як ніби складеними з лего. А дороги як змійки обвивали пагорб.
Looking at the area where the fortress of La Rocca is located, I can say that it was truly impregnable. My efforts to climb the hill of Monte Rico were crowned by the observation of wonderful pictures from a bird's-eye view. The air here is crystal clear and I wanted to breathe to my full chest. I was very tired but very happy. Because overwork will pass, and memories of this area will remain with me forever.

З огляду місцевосці, де розташована фортеця Ла Рокка можу сказати, що вона була справді неприступною. Мої надзусилля піднятися на пагорб Монте - Рікко увінчалися споглядання чудових картин з висоти пташиного польоту. Повітря тут кришталево чисте і хотілося дихати на повні груди. Я була дуже втомлена але дуже щаслива. Тому, що перевтома мине, а спогади про цю місцевість залишиться зі мною назавжди.
