Últimamente, no he tenido demasiado tiempo para leer cosas nuevas, así que he estado revisando arduamente aquellos libros a los cuales nunca les hace una reseña como tal. Uno de esos libros fue una novela de la saga los habitantes del aire de Holly Black, titulada: como el rey del Elfhame aprendió a odiar los cuentos. Esta es una novela, una narrada total y completamente desde la perspectiva de Karen, de su infancia y un poco de la actualidad, por así decirlo, básicamente situándonos en el pasado y en el primer libro, el príncipe cruel. Este es un libro que a mí la verdad me gusta mucho porque es una novelita bastante corta, pero muy entretenida y te ayuda muchísimo a poder entender al personaje principal de esta historia. Así que sin mucho más que decir, les cuento mis opiniones acerca de esta historia.

One of those books was a novella in Holly Black's denizens of the air saga, entitled: How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories. This is a novella, one told totally and completely from Karen's perspective, from her childhood and a little bit of the present day, so to speak, basically setting us in the past and the first book, the cruel prince. This is a book that I really like a lot because it is a fairly short novella, but very entertaining and it helps you a lot to understand the main character of this story. Básicamente, esta historia nos muestra cómo Cardan desde muy pequeño fue criado, o mejor dicho, no fue criado. Nos muestra las circunstancias que lo llevaron a ser quienes hoy en día, las decisiones de las personas que los rodean como su mamá y su papá, el hecho de qué Cardan fue ignorado durante muchísimo tiempo de su vida, fue testigo de traiciones, de las eternas luchas de poder, muchísima crueldad de parte de los faes y de todo un poco. Cuando digo que como Cardan no fue criado, me refiero al hecho de qué al estar ignorado, al vivir entre sirvientes, vivir entre la mugre, dormir en cualquier esquina, el hecho de qué Karen cuando jugaba a las escondidas, y nadie lo encontraba, él sentía que realmente estaba ganando el juego, cuando realmente era que nadie lo buscaba y esas son cosas que obviamente moldear a la persona que serán un futuro. Claramente, nos envolvemos en un ámbito un poco más psicológico, del personaje Karen debido a todas estas cosas que les he mencionado y también como eso afecta a la relación que tiene con Jude, como el hecho de esa historia de amor tan compleja hace que la trama completa de todos los tres primeros libros, de la trilogía principal, se ata interesante , ya que el impacto que tiene el uno con el otro es sin duda genial.

When I say that as Cardan was not raised, I mean the fact that being ignored, living among servants, living in the dirt, sleeping in any corner, the fact that Karen when he played hide and seek, and nobody found him, he felt that he was really winning the game, when really nobody was looking for him and those are things that obviously shape the person he will be in the future. Clearly, we get involved in a little bit more of a psychological realm, of the character Karen because of all these things that I've mentioned to you and also how that affects the relationship that he has with Jude, how the fact of that very complex love story makes the whole plot of all the first three books, of the main trilogy, ties up interesting , because the impact that they have on each other is certainly great.

Para mí, este pequeño libro es una lectura obligatoria en la saga los habitantes del aire, ya que nos ayuda a profundizar muchísimo en el personaje principal, nos muestra otra cara de la moneda, nos muestra literalmente porque él es así y también hay escenas como que jamás pensábamos que estarían en el libro. Esta es una historia sumamente corta, que tiene unas 180 páginas, que se lee en literalmente una sentada y que debe leerse justo al finalizar la saga de los habitantes del aire. Y como es una novela tan corta, no puedo contarles demasiado por qué estarías revelando todos los secretos, así que los dejo hasta acá con esta pequeña reseña que no les pude hacer en el pasado no sé por qué.
