    • About a failed trip
What's your story of a failed trip? Maybe it was a trip that was stopped because your vehicle suddenly broke down, or because you suddenly got sick. However, I also have an experience that 'failed', but still gave a very beautiful impression.

Not long ago, my friend and I travelled to a waterfall in the Batang regency. Although it is located in the highlands of the next town, the time we needed to reach the waterfall was only about two hours. Because the distance was relatively close, we set off at a rather late hour. We didn't need much preparation because the access to the waterfall was not too difficult.

We rode our motorbike to the north and then turned slightly to the east. Our destination was in Batang Regency. This was my first visit, while for my friend, it was his second trip, so we didn't worry about the route and time estimation.

After about an hour of travelling, we had started to enter the Genting waterfall area with signage built in the middle of the forest and very beautiful. From here, it took another hour or so. The scenery was already fully green. The road is now routinely uphill and winding. To our right and left are rubber and pine forests. These two types of trees dominate the forests in the Bawang area of Batang, Central Java.

Although it is a district road, the road in the Bawang area is not very wide, but it is passable if two cars pass each other. We couldn't speed here, the damp road covered by trees made us prone to falling because it was slippery even though it didn't look wet like rain.

    • Entrance Ticket

The entrance ticket to Curug Getting is only 5000 Rupiah. That includes insurance. One thing I like about nature trips like this is that for a small fee, we get a lot of benefits, especially in the healing department. Nature is indeed the best healing place in my opinion.

But, you know what happened? Not long from the ticket gate, a sudden drizzle fell. At first, we continued our journey because it was still a little drizzle. However, as we got further away, the drizzle became quite annoying because we were travelling on motorbikes. Finally, we decided to find shelter while waiting for the drizzle to subside.

Fortunately, not far ahead there was a sign of a coffee shop that seemed to be a good place to take shelter and enjoy coffee to warm up the body. Five minutes later, we arrived at the shelter of a coffee shop.
If at the beginning of the journey we saw a forest with two types of trees: rubber and pine, in this coffee shop it is completely surrounded by pine forest. The tall, slender trees were very beautiful. Although the sky wasn't too dark, a light fog began to descend, making us unsure about continuing our journey.

Meanwhile, we enjoyed the view in front of us. Enjoying the air that the trees carry, savouring the essentials of the pine trees. The road was also deserted, perhaps people were also stuck on the way to the waterfall.

    • Beautiful Crown Shyness

    IMG20240105114341.jpg

You've heard of crowns on trees that don't touch each other? That's Crown Shyness. I'm still always amazed by Crown Shyness. How trees protect themselves from other trees for fear of being exposed to toxins if the other tree has a potential disease. It's a beautiful self-defence.

Sometimes, every time I see Crown Shyness in the middle of the forest like this, I am thrown back to the times when the world was tense because of the severe Covid outbreak last 2020. We are all required to do social distancing to protect ourselves from being exposed to toxins. Isn't it true that trees are more ancient than humans? They are our teachers. Nature always gives the best lessons.

After about an hour more of resting and the drizzle still lingering, albeit small, we finally decided that the journey to the waterfall could not continue. Hmm... I guess I'll have to visit here another time.

Finally, after we finished our coffee, we decided to go down and return home. Well, even though our trip failed to reach the end, but at least, we could enjoy nature and relax among the pine trees with very fresh air.

Thank you, Hive, for reading my not entirely successful journey to Curug Genting. Next time, stay tuned for my other stories. See you...
