先日蒔いた種子たちの発芽が一斉に開始しました。
この写真の種は、色々な種類がミックスされていた、カラフルなベビーリーフです。
まだ芽を出していないものもありますが、ほとんどの発芽が見られました。
あまりにも突然で、予想より早かったので、慌てて移動の準備をしました。
今回は「土」を使わない室内栽培を考えています。
バーミキュライトと水耕栽培で進めたいと思っています。
土を使用すると、土に元々住んでいる微生物が増殖し、室内にカビが発生してしまうのです。
従来はなかったことですが、私の部屋の環境が変化してからカビ発生が起こりやすくなりました。
環境の変化とは、すぐ隣に、10階建てのマンションが建設されたことです。
このため、従来からは考えられないくらい日当たりが悪くなりました。
日光が減ると、紫外線による適度な滅菌効果がなくなるためか、カビの発生が止まらなくなったのです。
残念でしたが、カビが発生した土と、周辺の道具を一斉に処分せざるを得ませんでした。
カビだけでなく、きのこも生えたので、本当に日当たりの悪さを実感する出来事でした。
今回はバーミキュライトを敷き詰め、そこにキッチンペーパーごと移植します。
バーミキュライトであれば、天然由来の微生物が多く住んでいるということはないと思います。
また、軽量で扱いやすいので、今年はこのやり方を試すことにしました。
浅めの容器にバーミキュライトを敷き詰めて、たっぷりの水で湿らせます。
ここに発芽した種たちを一気に移動させました。
このやり方がうまくいくかどうかはまだわかりません。
随分昔ですが、似た方法で試したことがあり、その時は順調に土に根付いたのです。
しかし、ベランダに出していたら、あっと言う間に虫がついて、一夜にして全て食べられてしまいました。
レタス、ブロッコリー、トマトを育てていましたが、びっくりする勢いでした。
土の上に出ていた野菜の柔らかい部分は、全くなくなってしまっていました。
当時、葉っぱに酢酸由来の防虫剤を散布しようとして、数日延期したのがいけなかったです。
その時は虫たちによって食べられてしまったのですが、途中までは順調でした。
キッチンペーパーで発芽→土にそのまま移植→根っこが出て土に根付く、と言うところまでいきました。
今回もきっと、キッチンペーパーを破って、根っこがバーミキュライトに達するはずです。
このままある程度の大きさに育ったら、ベビーリーフは収穫して食べます。
それ以外のルッコラやクレソンは、水耕栽培へ移そうと考えています。
このまますくすく育ってくれることを願います。
ここ最近寒い日が続いていて、朝の最低気温が2℃くらいになることがあります。
3月に入ってから急に寒い日が増え、2月の方が暖かかったです。
2月があまりにも暖かかったので、大慌てで今年のガーデニングシーズンを開始したのです。
しかし、気候の変化というのは予想できそうでできないものですね。
気温も低いのですが、とにかく風が強いです。
私の住んでいる部屋はマンションの8階なので、風でベランダの植物が飛ばされたら大変です。
地上を歩く人や、お隣さんにもご迷惑をかけてしまいます。
今年は「室内菜園」でスタートして良かったと思います。
こちらはまだ発芽する気配がない、いんげん豆です。

自分の健康上の問題で、全くキャンプに行けない状態です。
このまま3月はキャンプは断念。
