Okay, I promise this is the last.

Since I arrived back into the city, I’ve been revisiting my favorite coffee lab in town. They sell specialty coffee that are fresh and has a lot of variety. Their staff is also known to be winners of national coffee tester championship and they also have some more awards. Compared to similar coffee shops that are also winners in coffee competition, I love this place more. I have reviewed them in the past and they are called “ hayati” specialty coffee.

For coffee lovers, this place is a heaven. They sell different beans that you can try and they know what they are doing. In this place, they are also friendly that even when you’re not well-versed with coffee, they will help. They will simply ask you what you like and offer some of their beans that might suit your taste. In this place, they subscribe to tasting notes while there are some other place that doesn’t subscribe to tasting notes. This is why they will ask if you like something fruity or chocolatey. In this place, the baristas and staffs are friendly and they are not condescending at all even if you’re a newbie or just casual coffee drinker.

When I was at the place for starters, I was getting a cappuccino but I ended up trying their recommended Avatara Yellow Tisane which apparently a coffee from an award-winning producer. As usual I ordered it in japanese and v60. It was heaven but I wasn’t in the mood to bring a bag of them home. So, while I was also looking for beans to get for my place, I was asking a few recommendations. I have tried a lot of beans in this place and I personally would skip anything from east-java because I have been there and I have tried a lot when I was in east java. I wanted something new, something that I would feel inspired when I drink it. So, I was left with a few options and I ended up choosing coffee from State of Goias, brazil with natural process, and bourbon variety.

The coffee has classic taste and perfect for French press or regular coffee machine. It’s such a pick me up morning coffee that has pleasant chocolatey taste. It is also perfect for espresso and latte based drinks. I didn’t regret a bit getting this coffee. It was also pretty reasonable that for 100gr it was around $3 compared to other local coffee variety that was a little bit more experience. Unfortunately, usually, the cheaper the beans is they are not necessarily the best quality. There were some expensive ones and better quality, but I am not too interested in the profile taste.

If you want a classic taste of coffee, I would recommend this coffee from Goias, Brazil. They make a pleasant morning coffee and best if you add milk into that. Perhaps, you might be able to get the better quality beans too.

As a side note, brewing your own specialty coffee is a lot cheaper and I personally like to invest in a good quality coffee. With a good coffee, you can never go wrong. They taste awesome without sugar and one cup is never enough. For 100gr if I make 2-3 cups/day, it would usually last for around 7-8 days. So, more excuse for me to go venture out there looking for interesting beans to try.
