Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Glint Shop Tutorial

Hello Splinterlands Summoners! It's end of season again. It's time to collect our Glints earned and buy some cards to build our deck.

    Deck Building

If you are new to the game, you can slowly build your deck by buying reward chests at each end of season. To build your deck, I would recommend starting with the Commons and Rare first. Get the commons to at least level 5 and the Rares to level 4. At this level, you can already compete in Gold III or II Leagues which offer decent SPS and Glint rewards. After having the desired level of Commons and Rares, then you can start building your epic cards. For epics, I'd recommend at least level 2 especially for Olivia the Brook where she gains the powerful Mimic ability.

    My Collection to Date

Currently I have the following cards in my collection:

    Common

    Rare

    Epic

My common cards collection is mostly level 4 and some level 3. My rare cards are the same with a lot in level 4 and some level 3 while my epics are level 2. I'm already using them in Gold League and I'm already content with my rare and epic cards although they still have a lot of room to grow.

    Buying and Opening Cards

    Common Reward Chest

I'll buy 300 Common Reward chests and see if we can level up some cards.

    First Batch 100 Common Chests

    Second Batch 100 Common Chests

    Third Batch 100 Common Chests

    Leveling Up Cards

Now lets upgrade some cards and talk about their abilities and utility in battle.

Chaos Evoker levels up to 5 and gains the Ambush ability. This will let the unit act before the start of battle. Together with her Blast ability, she can do some serious damage even before battle starts.

Giant Alpine Skink goes up one level and gains the Phase ability. He's now a good tank against all types of attack having both Phase and Shield abilities. He deals 4 melee damage and has 4 speed too.

Mar Toren Trader is now at level 4 and gains the Headwinds ability. She will now be good unit to use in Ranged only battles.

Halaran Huntress levels up to 5 gaining the Snare ability. She also has Flying and Charge abilities and will be great in Earthquake rulesets.

Blackmoor Wild Elf goes up to level 5 but she gains no new abilities, only one extra health. She's a decent magic damage dealer having 2 magic attack. She's has a good synergy with Quillion Legionary boosting its Thorns damage with her Amplify.

Nimbledook Explorer goes up one level gaining the Armored Strike ability. This gives her a melee attack using her shield. This is great since she has no attack on level 4.

Broken Earth Thug gain one level but no abilities. He gains one armor stat though. He is a good damage dealer needing only 3 mana. He has 2 melee attack and the Opportunity ability.

Ujurak Brave levels up to 5 gaining one more health stat. He's good against magic units and in Poison rulesets since he has the Silence and Immunity abilities.

Ujurak Elder goes to level 5 gaining another support ability, Strengthen. She doesn't have much damage potential but her support abilities are great. Having both Divine Shield and Strengthen will make her allies last longer in battle.

    Conclusion

I'm satisfied with the way my cards were upgraded. Most got new useful abilities and boosted the competitiveness of my deck. I'm ready and excited to grind for the next season. For the newbies reading this, I hope you get inspired to play and start building your own deck.
