Those of us who enjoyed the games of the 70's got used to the little dots and dashes that accompanied them and although archaic, they provoked a lot of adrenaline rushes playing them.

One such game was Space Race, released in 1972 by Atari and which first saw the light of day on the arcade machines of the time.

It transported you into a thrilling space race, where players assumed the role of astronauts competing in a race across the vast cosmos, made up of dots and dashes.

The goal was to reach the moon before your opponent, dodging asteroids and other space hazards along the way.

Space Race featured simple but colourful graphics, with two spaceships on screen and a starry background that immersed you in the atmosphere of the game.

The game offered simple but addictive gameplay, where you had to control the speed and direction of your ship to avoid collisions and reach the moon as fast as possible.

Space Race became a hit in the arcades of the 1970s, appealing to gamers of all ages and capturing the imagination of gamers of the time with its space theme and exciting competition.

With its space theme and thrilling competition, it later had a clone or toned-down version called Asteroid, Midway's version is still the canonical example of a timeless arcade game for two.
