Going for winter walks and hikes are one of my favorite things to do and I was beyond happy to be able to hit the Chedoke trail in the west end of Hamilton Ont. to take in some winter beauty!
Within minutes of being on the trail, you reach Upper Princess falls. A small 10 foot tall waterfall that sits above Princess falls (only view available of that 130 foot tall waterfall is with a drone and my post of that is here: https://hive.blog/hive-194913/@terrywayne/frozen-princess-waterfall).
Shortly after the waterfall you will come across the rifle range wall. Made of stone, it was constructed to protect passing trains (the trail was a train track in the early 1900s) from the chance of stray bullets from the military rifle range that was at the bottom of of the escarpment.
There are 9 waterfalls along this trail, but I was not prepared for hiking to them. So I stuck to the ones right at the trail, including Mountview Falls. A 33 foot tall Complex Classic Cascade waterfall.
You can see why I frequent this trail regularly and this relaxed trip doesn't show the half of it!
