Nothing gives me more joy than seeing progress in whatever I do. No matter how little, I always experience an abundance of joy and happiness.

Working with children with special needs isn't easy, one needs lot of patience to be able to handle them. I have a particular child named Alex. Alex is two years and 11 months, he would be three next month. Alex challenge is speech, behavioral and he had eating disorders.

Imagine working with a child that is nonverbal, when he cries, you have to try and guess what he wants and give to him. Alex has a phobia for food, when he sees food or anyone eating, he becomes scared and agitated, It's so bad that he would want to run away, to hide some where, anywhere his little mind tells him he could be safe.

The only thing Alex accept without being forced is water. He loves water and would accept willingly. Anything aside water is a NO for Alex. He doesn't take what other children likes to eat, he doesn't eat biscuits, juice or sweet.

So today I decided to try and feed him like a normal child without forcing, he wouldn't open his mouth, I continued to urge him to open his mouth and eat but he refused and I could see that he was really hungry because he hasn't had any food since morning, after a while he opened his mouth to take the food but wouldn't swallow it.

I started urging him to push it down his throat like he would swallow water. Few minutes passed and he later swallowed, that was how he finished his bowl of cereal and an additional mashed potatoes. I was so happy at seeing this progress and I gave him a peck and a big hug for his efforts today.

He was also happy after the meal. I'm always grateful for every little progress I see with the children I work with and I keep praying for more positive results.

Big hug to parents of children with special needs, it takes a lot of emotions, strength and patience to handle them.

After the days work I decided to do my cleaning as I walked from my street to my house.

Thanks for stopping by. Always feel free to leave a comment.
    Do have a wonderful day
