Hello friends,
Today in the construction diary, we will discuss the forming of block walls.
In a simple definition, Block formation is a practical process of transferring the building floor plan on the ground.
Proper block formation helps to establish a precise outline of the building walls which guilds the construction activities. It ensures the building follows the dimensions as it is in the building plan.
To ensure the wall is structurally sound, level and durable there are many steps taken.
#Step 1
Determining from the floor plan the size of block to be used on exterior and interior wall. Using the wrong block sizes will lead to error in getting the accurate dimensions as detailed in the plan.
#Step 2
Ensuring the blocks are level and straight at first course before raising the block wall. To do this, instruments such as square, string line and level are used.
#Step 3
A layer of mortar is applied to the footing and between the blocks with a thickness of 9.5 mm for each mortar joint.
#Step 4
Building up the wall, the vertical joints between blocks in successive course are staggered to increase strength.
