Sometimes we go far away looking for new thrills but overlook what’s next to us. I’ve been living in my current location for 14 years but only today I’ve „discovered” a Torah-shaped sundial.
The angle of the stone Torah matches the latitude. The sides of the Torah scroll give shadow - on the mornings the left hand side, in the afternoon - the right hand side one. There are stripes in the middle which tell the hour. Corrections between -15 and +15 minutes need to be made depending on the time of the year. Early April needs no adjournment. The sun time almost matches the civil time.
