We had an unexpected visit to a place called Robbers Cave, a State Park in the north of Wilburton city of Oklahoma in the county of Latimer. Its one of the most visited state parks in Oklahoma and its famous for being a hiding place for famous outlaws like Jesse James and the company.
I said unexpected because we never knew about this place's existence prior to our boring Sunday morning, exploring the city of Eufaula, with nothing much to do, we decided to explore places within 20 miles of driving distance and voila, we found a state park within our range. It made me curious, being a fan of westerns, i wanted to see how Jesse James would have spent his days hiding from all those bounties.
The visitor's center is 3 miles from the hiking trail which leads to the cave, so we headed to visitor's center first. It was surrounded by a beautiful lake and had plenty of water activities to offer, but it was too cold for the season to enjoy any of those. A restaurant, fully operational and themed as the cave was open with mouth watering menu.
Long story short, we headed toward the hiking trail that leads to the cave. The trail was beautiful with multiple types of trails, and we took the short and hard one that involved a lot of climbing and stumbling.
We finished our trail in under 2 hours and had a blast! We decided to head back before it gets dark because it was very hard to find our tree house in the woods due to the dark and lack of internet and cellphone reception and you do not want to get stuck in the woods with a flat tyre.
