One of the most enjoyable things when traveling in Southeast Asia is enjoying its street food which has many kinds of menus. I think, we are proud of that, it is not difficult to get delicious and cheap food here. Having the opportunity to come to Siem Reap Cambodia at the beginning of the year made me understand the many similarities. But, I have an interesting story related to the food I got in Siem Reap, Cambodia! I will tell you a lot.

It turns out that there is one area that is a settlement dominated by Muslims in Siem Reap. I thought, I would have difficulty finding a mosque here. But, not far from the city center, there is one area that does have many Muslims, especially Malays.

I deliberately looked for a mosque so I could worship while satisfying my curiosity about what a mosque in Cambodia is like. After that, I walked around this area, Stueng Thmey Village.

At the end of the road, I found a very interesting place because there was a woman wearing a headscarf and selling many kinds of food. But, I was very curious about what was red and long and had a rope tied. Similar to sausage but the color is really red!

And it turned out to be true, the food was a sausage that had a real red casing from cow intestines that were given spices and coloring. Due to language limitations, I only know a little bit, but, if you are a Cambodian, give me an answer! I really like this food.

Sausages usually have a savory and salty taste. Usually in my area it tastes like that. But, when I tried sausages in Cambodia, the taste was more dominantly sweet. I think it was from the casing, it looked a little thicker than the usual sausage casing. The texture is a little hard but has a soft meat dough but the chewy texture of the meat is still very pronounced.

There is a mixture of beef and chicken. At least I added protein today from our snacks at street food. I also bought a grilled chicken that was quite large. It had been marinated at home, the woman said. She was very patient in grilling the sausages and chicken until they were perfectly cooked.

Not only selling sausages and grilled chicken, there are also other foods such as grilled fish. I also saw bread like Vietnamese banh mi but didn't ask further. It seems to be a carbohydrate substitute for rice. Then our food was finished grilled and devoured very deliciously that afternoon.

I was given pickled cucumber and carrot, it tasted very fresh because I was very familiar with the taste of fermentation between vinegar, sugar and salt that had been overnight with cucumber and carrot. This is a food that is very suitable to be paired with this sausage and grilled chicken.

Cambodian street food successfully made me very happy with this area!
