Tipical Croatian (dalmatian) lunch

My younger son loves today's lunch. If it were up to him, he would eat it every day, but I make it once or twice a week. Mostly, it's shellfish cooked in a "buzara" style. You can use various types of shellfish, but I love to use mussels, or as the locals call them, "pidoce" or "pizdice."

First, finely chop parsley and garlic. Sauté them nicely in olive oil until the garlic turns a light yellow color. Then add the shellfish, stir, and cover. The shellfish will release their liquid, giving the dish a wonderful sea flavor. When the shellfish are tender, add white wine, preferably homemade, but store-bought is fine too. I use my own homemade wine. Pour in the wine as desired and let it simmer for at least 3-4 minutes. After that, add salt and pepper to taste and enjoy this delicious meal.

For an even sweeter Mediterranean experience, you can melt some butter in a pan, then add a bit of garlic until it slightly browns, and then add bread that you've brushed with olive oil. Toast the bread until it's crispy. Serve with homemade white or red wine, and you have a tasty, quality, and healthy lunch. Enjoy, friends.
