Why Do People Suffer Tribulations?
Tribulations are a part of every believer's journey on earth. As Christians, we are not exempt from trials and suffering, but rather, we are assured that through them, God will refine us. Tribulations teach us patience, and patience builds experience, which in turn strengthens our hope in Christ. Without challenges, we would not grow in faith, perseverance, and trust in God’s promises.
Psalms 34:19 "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all."
One of the major causes of suffering in the world today is the greed and selfishness of man. The rich continue to amass wealth beyond what they and their generations can ever consume, yet they lack compassion for the poor and needy. If only those who have been blessed with riches would open their hearts to the less privileged, poverty and suffering would not be as widespread as they are today. Unfortunately, the love of money has blinded many, making them indifferent to the struggles of others.
As Christians, we must understand that our suffering is not necessarily because of our personal sins but rather the consequences of the sinfulness of the world. The greed and wickedness of man have led to injustice, oppression, and extreme poverty, making tribulation a common experience in our time.
John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
Tribulations are inevitable, but as believers, we have the assurance that Christ has already overcome the world. If we remain faithful and trust in Him, we will find peace and ultimate victory over every challenge we face. Our hope is not in this world but in the eternal glory that awaits us in Christ Jesus.
