A click or a tune to the finest program in the morning, Coffee Time by Peter Gomez, Sports Daily by Amadou Tamba, or a Saturday 3 o'clock BBC sports world by Russel fuller, radios have always provided entertainment and educational sessions for its audience. Personally, I remember starting to pay close attention to radios right about the age of 14. I had my small local radio device where I listened to the above programs and latest music which I would record on my small little phone and memorize it later. I was hooked to it.
But has the radio faded? Do people have the time to sit and listen to radios now? Or do we listen to it in our cars just to be aware of the happenings in the country?
Podcasts are slowly replacing radiosp. We now have the privilege of listening to segments of programs online. Some of us prefer downloading the podcast of our favorite program and listening to it at our convenient time. It's a matter of convenience.
Podcasts spare you the trouble of carrying a physical object, and are devoid of frequencies, physical tuning. Radios on the other hand provide you the pleasure to tune other programs if you don't find that program interesting. And you do not particularly need internet for radio. But with the recent spikes of internet usage in society, people really consider not having internet access a problem. And iPhones for example do not have radio installed in their phones so you'd have to listen to an online radio which is quite inconvenient for many. So they resort to podcasts instead.
