Kaleb Has Two New Cousins

Over 10 months ago my son was born, and since then me, and my partner have been like zombies, although, over the last few months things have gotten better and we were gifted with something we'd taken for granted up until parenthood - a full night's sleep.

    The Babies Cousins

My sister and her boyfriend announced shortly after Kaleb came along that they were pregnant too. Then, a little while later, my partner's brother and his girlfriend said the same thing.

We thought it would be amazing and all families rejoiced at the idea of more kids being running around, especially the fact that they're all so close in age that they'll no doubt be great friends.

It seems like only a few weeks ago that all this happened, but sure enough, the time came.

My partner's brother and girlfriend headed for the hospital, and within only a few days they were back home with a bouncing baby boy.

We headed down to visit them in there - Kaleb was with us too, and while they don't allow kids in maternity wards they let us away with it because she was in a room by herself. It was awkward leaving because a guy and his son were stopped and refused entry as we walked past to get back outside.

    Today

We brought Kaleb for a swim today which was cool, and it was the first time he was in the pool. Then this evening he was visited by his Uncle, Aunty, and their child who is only a few weeks old.

He's tiny, and it's hard to imagine that only a few months ago Kaleb was that size. It's mad how quickly they grow.

He was interested in looking at his cousin but seemed more excited about everyone being around and he didn't really know where or who to look at. Eventually, he just started crawling around and playing with some of his toys.

    My Niece

Last Wednesday my sister was sent down to the hospital, because there was a lot of protein in her urine, and the hospital wanted to run some tests. They told her that they may need to induce labour, and yesterday they decided to do so and she and her partner welcomed their daughter into the world.

Me, my parents, and my partner went down to meet her last night, and she's so cute. Everything seems good, and the doctors are really happy with her and how my sister is recovering.

They still need to work through some tests, but have said that they'll be able to go home on Tuesday.

We can't wait for Kaleb to meet his other little cousin, and I think the house will be pretty mad with two of them there. It can be pretty wild with just Kaleb, so with other babies around it'll be fun.

He's crawling around and very active now, especially climbing on things, and we think that he'll be walking very soon, as he tends to drag himself up and loves standing - so long as he's holding onto something.

It's also cool being able to dispense some knowledge that we've learned over the last 10 months of having him, and I think we've been able to settle some minor concerns or worries about the entire process considering we have a bit of experience in the whole parenthood thing.
