So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week which is “FAMILY DINNER”.
But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “PARENTS AND DISCIPLINE”.
This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their ideologies when it came to being parents and how one implemented discipline to the kids in their charge. This is something every parent would tackle differently simply because no two people are the same.
We got to see just how far some parents would be willing to go all in the name of teaching their kids a lesson. Meanwhile, some other parents take a different approach, while some mixes it all up. In the end, what matters is that the child learns the lesson and is not scarred or traumatized for life.

This author told us that excessively harsh forms of discipline will never be the right way to raise a child. However, empathy plays a pretty big role in all this. He manages to find a balance between discipline and empathy so that the children in his care get the best of both worlds and come out the best version of themselves.

For this author, while he got stricter forms of discipline as a child, he’s looking to make sure that he doesn’t repeat the cycle with his children. So, while others might resort to physical means of discipline, our author prefers to use his words. They’re his most valuable tool and are potent in making his kids see the error of their ways.
For this author, he surmises that while giving a pep talk is always best when it comes to discipline, it may not always cut it especially when one takes into account the kind of act the child has done and the message the parent is trying to send across. Sometimes, certain punishments would be necessary to ensure that the kids don’t return to the same thing they were punished for.
