  In another post a while ago I mentioned how it is important, to be frank with your kids since we as parents are examples of adults to them. We can expect them to not lie if we are lying and not telling the truth, but I was thinking a bit and there examples of untruths that I let my kids believe. One example is with fantasy characters. Kids minds are interesting because they can believe in anything that we tell us or stories. I read once that it is very important for them to develop the ludic part of the brain that improves their imagination and creative capabilities.
  I have always stated that I am pretty skeptical of anything that is told to us, especially about unnatural beings. My two daughters love fairy tales, unicorns, and dragons. Even the tooth fairy is around them. I usually enter in the believer character with them and until they believe in this character, I say also that I believe in them. Even Santa Claus who isn't from our cultural background, taught them in a way by saying that he just doesn't visit our house because he only visits Christians. But we have other opportunities for presents throughout the year that Christians don't. But I never told them that Santa Claus doesn't exist.
  One of these days for some reason my daughter, who is now 7 years old, was telling me that doesn't believe that God exists. I got intrigued by why. She explained to me that she couldn't see a reason to say that he existed. I only questioned her, without saying whether she was right or wrong. But in the end, I told her that it is ok if she doesn't believe in God, her mom believes in God, while her dad is a bit more skeptical about God's existence. By curiosity, I asked her if she still believes in unicorns and she said yes.
  Not a while ago she stopped believing that Disney princesses were real, but unicorns are still real and I agree with her saying that they exist. But for sure Dad can't buy one anyway. Once she asked me If I could rent an unicorn for her. I told her that I was going to try calling around to check if I could find an unicorn. But now she keeps asking if I called everyone to ask where I can rent an unicorn for her. I tried to avoid the subject just saying that I couldn't find a way, which is almost the total truth.
  I will continue to feed this type of fantasy and feed her imagination, there are things that they need to learn by themselves. My daughter is improving her creativity and also her independence to find the truth behind the facts. Until then, it is fun to live and play in this fantasy world with her. I love fantasy stories and even not believing in many of these magical things it doesn't mean that I avoid the topic. I like fantasy book and movies, it makes my mind be in one fantasy world far from reality that is boring to spend 100% of our time in.
  Em outro post, há algum tempo, mencionei como é importante ser franco com seus filhos, já que nós, como pais, somos exemplos de adultos para eles. Não podemos esperar que eles não mintam se estamos mentindo e não dizendo a verdade, mas estive pensando um pouco e há exemplos de inverdades que deixo meus filhos acreditarem. Um exemplo é com personagens de fantasia. As mentes das crianças são interessantes porque elas podem acreditar em qualquer coisa que lhes contarmos ou em histórias. Li uma vez que é muito importante para elas desenvolver a parte lúdica do cérebro, que melhora suas capacidades de imaginação e criatividade.
  Sempre afirmei que sou bastante cético em relação a qualquer coisa que nos é contada, especialmente sobre seres sobrenaturais. Minhas duas filhas adoram contos de fadas, unicórnios e dragões. Até a fada dos dentes está presente na vida delas. Eu geralmente entro no personagem de crente com elas e, enquanto elas acreditarem nesses personagens, digo que também acredito neles. Até o Papai Noel, que não faz parte de nossa cultura, lhes foi ensinado de certa forma dizendo que ele só não visita nossa casa porque só visita cristãos. Mas temos outras oportunidades de presentes ao longo do ano que os cristãos não têm. Mas nunca lhes disse que o Papai Noel não existe.
  Um desses dias, por algum motivo, minha filha, que agora tem 7 anos, estava me dizendo que não acredita que Deus exista. Fiquei intrigado pelo motivo. Ela me explicou que não via uma razão para dizer que ele existia. Apenas a questionei, sem dizer se estava certa ou errada. Mas, no final, disse a ela que está tudo bem se ela não acredita em Deus, sua mãe acredita em Deus, enquanto seu pai é um pouco mais cético quanto à existência de Deus. Por curiosidade, perguntei se ela ainda acreditava em unicórnios e ela disse que sim.
  Há pouco tempo, ela parou de acreditar que as princesas da Disney eram reais, mas os unicórnios ainda são reais e concordo com ela, dizendo que eles existem. Mas, com certeza, papai não pode comprar um de qualquer maneira. Uma vez ela me perguntou se eu poderia alugar um unicórnio para ela. Eu disse que ia tentar ligar para ver se conseguia encontrar um unicórnio. Mas agora ela continua perguntando se já liguei para todo mundo para saber onde posso alugar um unicórnio para ela. Tento evitar o assunto dizendo apenas que não consegui encontrar uma maneira, o que é quase a total verdade.
  Vou continuar alimentando esse tipo de fantasia e estimulando a imaginação dela, há coisas que elas precisam aprender sozinhas. Minha filha está melhorando sua criatividade e também sua independência para descobrir a verdade por trás dos fatos. Até lá, é divertido viver e brincar nesse mundo de fantasia com ela. Adoro histórias de fantasia e, mesmo não acreditando em muitas dessas coisas mágicas, isso não significa que evito o assunto. Gosto de livros e filmes de fantasia, eles fazem minha mente estar em um mundo de fantasia, longe da realidade que é chata de passar 100% do nosso tempo.
