As I mentioned in my yesterday's post, the cute house on the cousins land, so here I am sharing it with you because I find it so cute, unique and also how well it is taken care of.
This house is pretty much a storage house for all the fertilizers and all the harvest from the land. But I also believe that the cousin's uncle, who also takes care of the land, also lives in part of the house.
All around the house is so spotles and everything is so organized. The roof shingles (cajas) are put away so neatly, the dirt walkway around this property is kept so clean and swept.
Everything is so spotless. That's what made this house so special.
Living in Vancouver, Canada, you can see gorgeous, big houses, worth millions of dollars, but a lot of those houses look so not taken care of and just dirty and here you see this little wooden farm house, but is so well taken care of. Even the dirt all around the house was all swept. I was very impressed by it.
It makes you wonder how a lot of people are so unhappy and unappreciative of so many things, even though they have everything. And then there are so many poor people, who are so happy and appreciate every little thing they have and take care of it.
The firewood is also very organized.
This house is also used by the community to cook some food and make parties. I loved the old brick and clay style stove/oven where the tortillas and all kinds of foods are cooked and baked.
And here we have the original corn grinder (piedra de moler), which is grinding table. This is how the corn was grinded in order to make (masa) which is mostly used for making tortillas.
Similar to a mortar and pestle, a metate is a stone and grinding table that is traditionally made of volcanic rock. It's been used for several millennia in Mexico to grind up corn kernels to make masa.
What I found even more cute, was the matching blue gate/door that was attached to the green nature fence that seperated the house from the farm land.
