It had been quite a few years since I last received the new year in my hometown.

Much has changed, including people and places, but people keep doing their best to keep traditions alive.

It's a good thing to have as many members of the family together. These are the times where sibblings, cousins and other relatives build memories and unbreakable links.

Competing recipes provide plenty of chances for anecdotes and jokes.

My mother has been feeling well and that has been the best news of the year. After many years without sharing the end of the year, we finally could and it has been great.

My brother called for an early dinner (9pm).

So, we tried to be ready early. The little ones as it is usually the case now, were not ready to eat early. They were too busy fooling around.

My mother has already had hers at 6. Old habits are hard to change. She went straight for the dessert.

Some of the traditional Christmas ingredients of our traditional dish were missing, but everything we had on the table was delicious.

We wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year!
