If you take a look at the centuries past and how our lives have changed when compared to those that came before us and it keeps changing, you have only science and technology to thank or blame as the case may be.

Why I say "blame" is because there are negatives that have occurred in time past or currently happening for which science is responsible.

When you take a look at wars and the way it has evolved over the years, you will notice that science and technology went too far.
To start with, the concept of mass destruction using bombs was a terrible idea to the best of my knowledge.

To make matters worse, it didn't stop there, billions went into research towards making bombs more catastrophic and destructive.

The amount of money that was used to produce and transport these destructive agents could have been better used more productively to preserve humanity but no, it wasn't.

This was back in the early 1900's. But even in today's world, a lot of money still goes into researching more creative ways to destroy humanity.

This is an abuse of science and scientific knowledge, it is something that should not continue.
I believe science has taken wars too far and because of possession of one "massive" weapon or the other, a nation who is wrong would not accept to do the right thing and make amends but would rather threaten to bring war if they don't have their way.

Possessing any of these deadly tools also gives countries the confidence with which to misbehave because they feel they would be able to wreck havoc if war should start.

We are like Oliver Twist, we always want some more.

Humans are insatiable, our needs and wants are endless. As such, despite the various improvements in our lives courtesy of science and technology, we always have need for improvement in existing structures and methods or creating new ones to further improve our quality of life.

One of the areas I personally feel science has done well but need to do more is in the area of body part replacement (prosthesis)

In the past, when people lose a body part, either due to disease, accident or a medical/surgical procedure, they are condemned to a life without alternatives. But these days, with the advent of prosthetics, amputees, those who have undergone a breast surgery or any other loss of a body part have alternatives to at least improve appearance and offer semblance to normalcy.

We are aware that a lot of medical improvements and decisions were taken after observing animals and researching on how same can be applied to us. There are animals who regenerate body parts after a loss and studies have gone into such animals.

With the extent to which genetic engineering and stem cells studies have gone, I wish science could come up with a solution that would not only improve aesthetics but also improve functionality.

Imagine a world where amputees and others who have lost one body part or the other can have it replaced (grown back) using either stem cells or genetic engineering or a combination of both with reduced or no risk of body reactions because it is from their own cells.

Someone like my musician friend who lost his little finger to a quarrying machine and had a significant drop in his guitar skills would be grateful to have his finger back.
Same applies to a whole number of people who have lost body parts which although they are living without it, their lives took a great, negative and unexpected turn.
