Chills passed down the spine as the ear echoed the heartbeat of the battered soul,
Though the weather was volcanic in nature,
It didn't stop the cold from settling into the body,
Because the weather was truly doing its job, but the mind, not sure.

Sitting right at the corner of the room,
The body shivered in regret, as the conflicted thought back,
To days that were good and how bad the good became,
The thought of that alone carved out every piece of insanity from the mind,
As the mind traveled far to the great beyond, never to come back.

The heart grew colder for the loneliness that stuck it,
The mind was its family, and the heart shed the unshed tears,
For the loss of the mind to make it beat rightly,
The heart lost it balance as it yearned agonizingly,
For the loss of life that should have been beautiful.

No one knew nor could say why the most joyous soul known to mankind,
Is a lost lamb in the wilderness of depression,
No one knew nor could reason with the gnashing pain that pierced the heart,
As each second painfully passes by, no one knows, or maybe they do.

Like a brave wounded lost warrior who came home to find his family gone,
The heart forced it was out of warrior's lungs and settled in the mouth,
Blood splattered hungrily down the throat as each teeth in their glory,
Pierced the heart without moving until all was lost,
    And depression is victorious.

This is my response to the Blockchainpoets-weekly-prompt on Depression.
