The passage of time, getting older. When we reach a stage in life when we are faced with memories and wonder about all that could have been and was not. This beautiful film captivated me with its beautiful story. It is a beautiful film that tells us about love and resolving all unfinished business.
Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormakur I knew him best for several films in the Thriller and police action genre. Inhale, Contraband, Beast and 2 Guns are some of the films he made in the United States with well-known stars. Also in his country he has an extensive fimography in that genre, so I was surprised by this turn in his filmography, to approach a more intimate fim, with a more classic, slow and romantic style.
The film is the adaptation of a novel that seems to have been a great success in Iceland and whose writer Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson also participated in the development of the screenplay, so it may be a fairly faithful work to the original due to the presence of the author. I can't say for sure, but if anyone has read the book, let them see the movie and give me their opinion.
The cast is mostly composed of Icelandic and Japanese actors. Some have been in major international productions, others have worked mostly in their home country, but for the side of the world I'm on, they are not very well known faces to the general public. I think the younger ones might know Koki, who is a Japanese model and composer with over three million followers on Instagram. As I have always said, when a cast is not well known, the story seems fresher and more believable to me.
El paso del tiempo, envejecer. Cuando llegamos a una etapa de la vida en la que nos enfrentamos a los recuerdos y nos preguntamos por todo lo que pudo ser y no fue. Esta hermosa película me cautivó con su bella historia. Es una película hermosa que nos habla del amor y resolver todos los asuntos pendientes.
Al cineasta islandés Baltasar Kormakur lo conocía más por varias películas del género de Thriller y acción policíaca. Inhale, Contraband, Beast y 2 Guns son algunas de las películas que realizó en Estados Unidos con estrellas muy conocidas. También en su país tiene una extensa fimografía en ese género, por lo que me sorprendió este giro en su filmografía, para abordar un fim más intimista, con un estilo más clásico, pausado y romántico.
La película es la adaptación de una novela que parece haber tenido un gran éxito en Islandia y cuyo escritor Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson también participó en la elaboración del guión, por lo que puede que sea una obra bastante fiel a la original debido a la presencia del autor. No puedo asegurarlo, pero si alguien ha leído el libro, que vea la película y me dé su opinión.
El reparto está compuesto en su mayoría por actores islandeses y japoneses. Algunos han participado en grandes producciones internacionales, otros han trabajado sobre todo en su país de origen, pero para el lado del mundo en el que me encuentro, no son caras muy conocidas para el gran público. Creo que los más jóvenes quizá conozcan a Koki, que es una modelo y compositora japonesa con más de tres millones de seguidores en Instagram. Como siempre he dicho, cuando un reparto no es muy conocido, la historia me parece más fresca y creíble.
The story unfolds in two timelines. The present of the protagonist Kristofer and flashbacks to the past, when he met the love of his life, the woman he would never forget. Romantics will love the movie. Who wouldn't like to have that kind of deep, intense love - will it only happen in the movies?
Iceland, England and Japan are the three countries where the plot of the film takes place. Although it is an intimate film, there is no need for a display of special effects. You can tell that they have taken care of the details of the production. Both timelines are interesting, there is balance, although of course the set of the past is more beautiful, being where the love relationship is explored.
Family traditions, a tragic past and cultural differences. A love that seems to have many obstacles, but whose youthful impetus sees everything possible, what they had not foreseen is that a past event that shocked the world, would influence this beautiful love story between Kristofer and Miko.
The tricks of fate always do their thing. Different paths. Separate lives. Until age and having less time in this world, makes us remember all that we could have been and was not. When there is nothing left, when everything is lost, it is time to try again.

La historia se desarrolla en dos líneas temporales. El presente del protagonista Kristofer y los flashbacks al pasado, cuando conoció al amor de su vida, a la mujer que nunca olvidaría. A los románticos les encantará la película. A quién no le gustaría tener ese tipo de amor profundo e intenso. ¿Sólo ocurrirá en las películas?
Islandia, Inglaterra y Japón son los tres países en los que se desarrolla la trama de la película. Aunque se trata de una película intimista y en la que no hace falta un despliegue de efectos especiales. Se nota que han cuidado los detalles de la producción. Ambas líneas temporales son interesantes, hay equilibrio, aunque por supuesto el conjunto del pasado es más bello, al ser donde se explora la relación amorosa.
Tradiciones familiares, un pasado trágico y diferencias culturales. Un amor que parece tener muchos osbtaculos, pero cuyo ímpetu de juventud ve todo posible, lo que no habian previsto es que un suceso pasado y que conmociono al mundo, influiria en esta bella historia de amor entre Kristofer y Miko.
Los trucos del destino siempre hacen lo suyo. Caminos diferentes. Vidas separadas. Hasta que la edad y el tener menos tiempo en este mundo, nos hace recordar todo lo que pudimos ser y no fue. Cuando ya no queda nada, cuando todo se ha perdido, es el momento de volver a intentarlo.
