I like Minnippi parkrun as it is fast, pretty flat and has no dead turns. The only bit I dont like is you never get to see the leaders as you run out to the lake and then do two laps before heading back to the start line. It was a good chance to give my faster colourful looking nike Vaspourfly shoes a good hit out. I have not worn them for ages and there getting pretty old but are still in good nick with low kilometres on them. They feel fast and are very responsive when you push a bit faster, unforanetly they did not help run as fast as I would have liked this morning. The shoes are good but you still have to do all the work.
After my two kilometre warm up which included a few faster strides, I headed to the start line for the run briefing I have done this course 12 times now so I did not listen the the first timer brief. My right hamstring tighten up pretty much straight away and though it did not really hinder me it probably did stop me pushing a bit harder than I other wise may have.
39th posoition over all in a time of 23:35 out of 287 runners and walkers. 3rd in my age group with an age grade of 66.29% well off my personnel best of this course of 21:30. I had a feeling this course was about 2 minutes faster than the hilly gravel trail parkrun I did last week in 25 odd minutes.
Overall I was pretty happy with the run and it gives me something to work with for next week.
