The perfect tool for advertising and a way of preserving memories: photos.

As technology advances, capturing memories has become much easier and better. The art of photography has now become an integral part of our daily lives. We no longer need to depend only on professionals; we can also use our smartphones to capture beautiful moments anywhere, anytime.

Each picture we snap tells a story. These photos allow us to cherish these memories. Photography has greatly improved, unlike in the past. It is now easier for people to market their products via different platforms online by showcasing beautiful pictures of whatever they sell, making advertising and marketing much easier.

Though I am not one who really takes photos, most times I easily get carried away with life or so engrossed, thereby forgetting to document some of those beautiful moments by taking photos. But being an entrepreneur has made me always take photos of what I sell for effective advertising, which will help attract more customers.

However, recently I've greatly improved when it comes to capturing and documenting my experiences and other memories more frequently, all thanks to platforms like Hive that love originality. I've learned to always use my phone camera more effectively.

This picture was snapped at home in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, after one of our numerous make-up sessions with my younger sister. It is no news to us that once your sibling or friend wants to become a makeup artist, they automatically use the people around them as their models to practice and perfect their skills. My younger sister is not an exception.

This is me trying to advertise Irish potatoes and strawberries to attract customers online. I started the Irish potato and strawberry business when I came to Ilorin, Kwara State, for my postgraduate programme at the University of Ilorin. I was quite surprised after seeing how expensive Irish potatoes and strawberries were in this part of the country.

Coming from Jos Plateau State, the largest producer of Irish potatoes and the only producer of strawberries in Nigeria, I did a little feasibility study within some of the markets around and decided it would be good if I ventured into the business also. My potatoes were always bigger, fresher, and cheaper, and fortunately, I was able to have so many customers.

As for the strawberries, I had a few bakers and individuals whom I always supplied based on preorders, not just in Ilorin but also in Kaduna, Gombe, and Abuja.

This picture was taken at home in Jos, Plateau State. I noticed this beautiful passion fruit prayer blooming so beautifully while I went to water it, and some of the fruits were planted within the compound. This is a normal practice in most homes within Jos Plateau State. We love planting fruits and vegetables within our compounds for consumption and sometimes even for sale.

Through our phone cameras, we have been able to capture beautiful moments that offer a glimpse of either our experiences or even our emotions. These photos were taken to not only preserve memories but also show us the connections between our past and the present.

Just like someone rightly said, "A picture is worth a thousand words.".

    ALL IMAGES ARE MINE.
