Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the former CEO of FTX, has reportedly been placed in solitary confinement after participating in an interview with Tucker Carlson without the approval of prison authorities.

A representative for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons confirmed that the interview was not authorized.

After the interview was published, Bankman-Fried was moved to solitary confinement at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he has been held since August 2023.

The Bureau of Prisons has strict rules regarding who can communicate with inmates and how they can do so.

Carlson's interview with Bankman-Fried, which was published on YouTube on March 6, has gained over 730,000 views.

During the interview, Bankman-Fried talked about his prison life and his views on crypto regulation in the U.S. He also stated that he does not consider himself a criminal.

Bankman-Fried's legal team continues to fight his conviction, with lawyers filing an appeal against his 25-year prison sentence and seven felony convictions in September 2024.

A group of doctors submitted an amicus brief in support of Bankman-Fried’s appeal, claiming that his neurodivergence disorders may have significantly affected his criminal trial.
