The smallest thing can matter a lot when it puts a smile on another person's face, these days happiness does not necessarily involve spending a whole lot of money but a feeling of joy and contentment in whatever situation we find ourselves. As humans there are several ways we tend to navigate through a bad day experience, this can be achieved either by ourselves or our loved ones around us. Having a bad day simply means that the day is unpleasant and filled with negative experiences, stress, or challenges, this can be from family, friends, work, school etc. But bad days are temporary events that do not last forever.
There are days where I would be having a bad or stressful day and in the end something or someone makes me smile through it. Just like I said at the beginning, sometimes it's the little gestures that matters most, even the person offering the gesture might see it casually but deep down the receivers heart it means a lot. A gesture as small as listening goes a whole lot to show that someone is not alone in that moment because in situations like that, people get the feeling of loneliness or being neglected. So one way is to be there for them and listen when they pour out their hearts and frustration, it can be a therapy to be better and relieved. Also offering words of encouragement can be a plus.
Treating myself to a favorite snack or local dish can bring joy at the end of a bad /stressful day, sometimes it's a remedy to eat something delicious and sweet. One time I had a lecture where we presented an assignment on a seminar paper on Nigerian English, we thought we had killed the topic by going through different lengths to write the paper to the extent that we even carried out a data survey on the research. Unfortunately, our lecture trashed our work and asked us to revisit it from another angle entirely, this means that we had to start from the beginning. It was so tiring hearing that, it drained me especially because I had thoughts that we would have been done with the assignment that day. When I got home I had a good meal prepared by my roommate, this brought me back alive and with the hope that tomorrow will be better and I also had a great sleep.
Smiles can come from loved ones as well, as a student not having money on you can literally spoil your mood and your day inclusive. So when we call to complain to our parents or guardians and they send us some money it tends to brighten up the day. Other gestures can involve: a warm smile, offering compliments, gifts, acts of kindness, offering help, money, watching movies or comedies, exploring, hanging out and so many more.
This is my entry for the @ladiesofhive community weekly contest . With the question been "what makes you smile when you are having a bad day".
