The Internet is full of health tips. Many sound very logical, others seem very crazy. Within that sea of advice, it's hard to decipher which is true and which is not. Let's see what you think of this one I've been using for a while: mouthwash + antiseptic solution.

We tend to regularly use mouthwash for after our toothbrushing, and maybe you're one of those who likes to choose one based on smell, taste, brand, color, etc. You don't seem to need anything else. However, my mother usually adds an antiseptic solution that she gets in drugstores, Dioxogen brand. It is a product that is used to clean wounds and prevent the spread of bacteria because it is hypoallergenic. It has other uses that I haven't tried. So, she combines it in a 50% and 50% ratio.

She taught us how to apply it in several ways. The most common is a few drops on the toothpaste that we apply on the toothbrush before brushing. This serves as a complement to hygiene, claiming that it helps to eliminate bacteria in the mouth. Now, when we have presented some flu-like or viral symptoms, she invites us to gargle with it. We are already talking about a slightly larger volume. When I have done that, I feel the relief, since many of those symptoms start in the throat.

Now, get ready for the strangest use. Since my mom is a long-time manicurist and pedicurist (among other things), she uses this solution for some cases of skin disease on those extremities. And it works! In fact, I once skeptically applied some when I got sick on one of my feet. And I must admit that I was cured.

Well, maybe there is a dentist who will correct this post by saying that this combination is harmful to health. I don't know. At least, the instructions of the antiseptic solution say that it can be used for asepsis of the oral mucosa. Well, it seems that, in the end, she was not so wrong.

In conclusion, keep taking care of your health. And if possible, let's turn to doctors for help, avoiding blindly believing everything we see on the internet. Crazy of me to say this at the end of my post, eh?
