Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!

However, on the 26th one, I have decided that it is big enough to call this series a Library!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

In this series, I will review one unit at a time, picking them randomly.

So let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:

    Chaos Knights, War Dog Brigands

    10th Edition Index Cards

Another Chaos entry today. The Chaos Knights are the opposite of the Imperial Knights who are noble and courageous, paragons who stand as champions of humanity... the Chaos Knights are agents of terror and fear. Their army rules are built around intimidation!

So the War Dogs are the smaller of the Chaos Knights, the same as the Armiger Helverin of the Imperial Knights that I reviewed before.

So let's look at this beastie's stats!

    Stats

Very much the same as Armiger.

Movement 12", Toughness 10, 12 Wounds, 3+ save and 5+ invul against ranged attacks.

There are MANY War Dogs Datasheets for this army and instead of having a million weapon options, there are many different types of War Dogs.

This is the Brigand and as such it is the shoot version. Also, I noticed a DESCREPENCY. The Brigand is the only War Dog that hits naturally on a 2+ with all its guns instead of a 3+ like the other War Dogs.

    Weapons

    Weapon 1 - Avenger chaincannon
24" Range, a massive 12 attacks! Hitting on 2+ as mentioned, super accurate. Strength 6, AP-1 and Damage 1

This is then a great Anti-infantry weapon. Wait till you see this unit's ability!

    Weapon 2 - Daemonbreath spear
    A big thermal spear gun.
A good 24" Range, 2 shots, hitting on 2+, Strength 12, AP-4 and Damage D6 with the Melta 4 rule.

So this is super good anti-tank. It is a meltagun with the strength of a Lascannon. At half range of 12", it gets an additional 4 damage.

Small arms options - Diabolus heavy stubber or Havoc multi-launcher

So either 3x S5 shots at 36" that can go up to 6 shots at 18" OR a 48" S5 weapon that can hit people you can't directly see. Only D6 shots on the latter but the Havoc Launcher does have the Blast rule so some extra hits can come from targeting big squads.

    Abilities

    Now, for the Brigand Ability.

When this War Dog shoots at the nearest enemy unit, the weapons that it shoots with gain an additional AP!

This is great for the Avenger chaincannon to get to AP-2.

The Daemonbreath spear getting Ap -5 is quite the death sentence to most tanks!

    Overall a scary unit.
