The Bible has its own interpretation and understanding because the Bible is God-given, God-inspired, God-breathed. No human understanding is capable of grasping the real meaning of God’s word, no human mind will be able to comprehend or understand the Bible as it were.
Psalms 94:11;
The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity".
1 Corinthians 1:19;
For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent".
So no matter how prudent a man may be, his understanding is nothing in relation to God’s word. Now how do we understand God’s word? We have to have an understanding that it is given by God and hence it is God alone that can gives us an understanding of His word.
Proverbs 1:23;
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you”.
For us to know the word of God in the Bible, we need the Spirit from God. Why do we need God’s spirit?
1 Corinthians 2:10;
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God".
The deep things of God can be understood by man through the guidance of God’s spirit. The approach that we are talking about, of churches, regarding the word of God in the Bible are human approach, they are misled by their wisdom. With their wisdom, they will not understand God’s word.
1 Corinthians 1:20;
Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?"
Because of the wisdom of the world, they have not known God, human wisdom is a hindrance to understanding God’s will. Whatever the approach may be, whether it is a literal or spiritual approach of the Bible; if only the human understanding is working, then there’s no way they can understand God’s word.
It is the spirit that interprets the Bible, not us, the physical. We understand God’s commandments, teachings and His holy will through the divine guidance of the Holy spirit.
