    Part 2

"Vitex and Derric won't be flattening the castle at all!" Magna protested.

"From what I heard from you brother, the Goddess is not very good at control." Queen Mary retorted. "What if she gets it in her head to do something and brings about some calamity?"

"Yes. She lacks perspective and although she's still got a long time to go, they have made an arrangement." Magna explained. "She is not to use her divine powers to do anything without explaining it to him."

"Sure. That's very reassuring." Mary scoffed.

"Well, you would not need to worry about any of these things once I am married because I won't be here!" Magna's patience had worn thin, she turned and stormed off.

"You are the heir!" Mary called after her. "Magna! Come back here! I am not done with you!" Mary bristled and struggled to keep her own calm. She shot a piercing look at Adiran who seemed almost amused. "Your smirk is not helping my mood at all."

"Forgive me, my Queen." Adiran said and bowed deeply. "I was merely thinking of my own sister."

"Was she as hot-headed in your time as she is here?"

Adrian shook his head. "Worse in some cases. But she held an edge of mania. I am not from this past but I see how this concept is difficult. Where I existed, the Fiery One had consumed all Magna's good parts and I had to help in stopping her from becoming completely like the one that was corrupting her."

Mary sighed. This was a grim turn of events. "This does not reassure me at all. The Fiery One still has a hold on her."

Adrian shook his head. "Not the same. Magna and my sister are very different. We also went through quite a bit to lift the curse from your brother's lands. It has proved to put some distance between those invaders and the twins."

"Yet Adrian seems colder than ever." Mary said.

"He might seem more distant, but he has had to do a lot of growing up. He has had to tap into parts of himself that I was not even able to do." Adrian explained. "It is not because of the Cold One. He is just growing up and he does not look to me for all the answers."

    "Why is that?"

Adiran laughed. "He has realized, as he should, that I am an imperfect teacher."

"Yet you still have a lot to teach him." Mary said, her brow furrowed in a frown. "You are not going anywhere are you?"

Adiran looked her in the eye. "I do not know the hour, nor the day... it will not be of my own choosing... but it is possible."

"Is that any less true than it is for the rest of us?"

Adiran shrugged. "All I can do, is my best with what I know."

    Mary nodded.

Noxus entered the room silently. She bowed deeply toward the Queen and then inclined her head in Adiran's direction. "My Queen. I have a report here delivered to us from a messenger to the Kingdom's southern border."

    "Yes? What is it?"

"There is an army moving along the southern border. Not quite an invasion force, but too large to stay in one place for long. Hundreds of men."

"Has anyone been able to identify their origin?"

"No, your Majesty. The messenger's commander had gone to establish contact with them but they had taken him captive."

"They did not just kill him?"

Noxus shook her head. "The messenger said it was quite clear that they took him and has the commander travelling with them as a captive."

    "Strange." Adiran said.

"Do you have some insight?" Mary asked.
