Death island

Last week, I visited the municipality of Ilha Comprida in the state of São Paulo, more specifically the southern part of the island. This area is the least populated and also receives the fewest tourists, even at this time of year, despite being the height of summer.

During a walk to the southernmost tip of the island, where the sea meets the river at a place called Barra de Cananéia, I took the opportunity to snap these photos. I love the mysterious vibe that the overcast morning gave to these shots. I named this small photoshoot "Death island" because, along several kilometers of walking, I came across dead turtles and fish carcasses scattered along the sand…
And lots of vultures waiting for their next meal to be delivered by the sea. In addition, the area is littered with many dead native sandbank trees scattered across the sand - a sight that always catches my eye.
These are unassuming photos, just snapshots of a walk, but I really enjoyed bringing them home with me.
