Comenzando este video tuve mucha intriga, el título me llamó poderosamente la atención. Comenzamos a indagar viendo ejemplos de emociones básicas y primarias. Habiendo diferenciado las maneras de expresar emociones en el dibujo, comenzaremos con las expresiones gestuales. Para este ejercicio él va a usar literalmente limones y un rotulador, con ello nos va mostrando cómo comenzar. Los ojos y la nariz no cambian tanto el gesto por ahora, asique solo colocamos un par de líneas y puntos.

Starting this video I was very intrigued, the title caught my attention. We began to investigate by looking at examples of basic and primary emotions. Having differentiated the ways of expressing emotions in drawing, we will start with gestural expressions. For this exercise he will literally use lemons and a marker, showing us how to start. The eyes and the nose don't change the gesture so much for now, so we just place a couple of lines and dots.
Claro, en mi caso no lo haré en limones, pero me pareció una buena idea para hacer prácticas. Yo hice algunos ejercicios antes del que aquí les traigo, pero fue para lograr la forma de limón que más se ajustara a mi gusto y también para no estar borrando mucho. Así mi cuaderno de dibujo mantiene todo lo aprendido y mostrado aquí. Lo primero es hacer esta pequeña “trampa” que son los cuatro gestos básicos con sus cejas y boca correspondiente. Les puse el nombre debajo y luego poder hacer mis combinaciones.

Of course, in my case I won't do it on lemons, but it seemed like a good idea for practice. I did some exercises before the one I bring you here, but it was to achieve the lemon shape that best suited my taste and also not to be erasing too much. This way my sketchbook keeps everything I have learned and shown here. The first thing is to make this little "trap" which are the four basic gestures with their corresponding eyebrows and mouth. I put the name under them and then I can make my combinations.
Para comenzar con la parte de exploración, vamos a ir mezclando y acomodando los ojos y narices a gusto, porque no es lo mismo una sonrisa básica que una con los ojos más juntos, o más grandes. La idea es explorar cuanto más y más se pueda, para ir logrando otras emociones y empezar a pensarlas para cualquier rostro que vayamos a crear.

To start with the exploration part, we are going to mix and adjust the eyes and noses as we like, because a basic smile is not the same as one with the eyes closer together, or bigger. The idea is to explore as much as possible, to achieve other emotions and start thinking about them for any face we are going to create.
Yo logré mezclar alguna sonrisa con las cejas del enojo y logré un personaje que planea una travesura, y también encontré dos maneras distintas de mostrar decepción, como si se le hubiese caído un helado, usando un rasgo del rostro neutro y luego mezclando el enojo y otro de la tristeza. Fue un hermoso rato de exploración y de ver cómo quería que quedaran finalmente mis expresiones, divertido, didáctico y de mucho aprendizaje. Logré estar conforme con lo que descubrí y sentí esta posibilidad ahora de explorar en dibujos más simples pero con gestos puntuales.

I managed to mix some smiles with the eyebrows of anger and achieved a character who plans a prank, and I also found two different ways to show disappointment, as if he had dropped an ice cream, using a neutral facial feature and then mixing anger and sadness. It was a beautiful time of exploration and seeing how I wanted my expressions to look in the end, fun, didactic and a lot of learning. I managed to be satisfied with what I discovered and I felt this possibility now to explore in simpler drawings but with specific gestures.
Aproveché mis ganas y me puse a probar un poco coloreando también, para que se parezcan más a un limón y seguro lo vuelva a retocar en unos días, considerando que usé lápices acuarelables, puedo darles un acabado más bonito y “limpio”

I took advantage of my desire and I started to try a little coloring too, so that they look more like a lemon and I will surely retouch it again in a few days, considering that I used watercolor pencils, I can give them a nicer and "cleaner" finish.
Hacia el final del capítulo nos invita a crear una escena con dos colores de rotulador o lápiz. Esta parte del ejercicio es realizada muy rápido en el video y yo he decidido separarlo para hacerlo más a gusto. Pero les prometo que valdrá la pena, aunque es más complejo en tiempo y me requiere un poco de práctica antes de tener también el terminado, nos muestra posturas básicas en muñecos de palito, pero nos invita a probar a nosotros con nuestros estilos, por eso estoy terminando de explorar un poco más mis ejemplos y ver dónde estoy más cómoda.

Towards the end of the chapter we are invited to create a scene with two colors of marker or pencil. This part of the exercise is done very quickly in the video and I have decided to separate it to do it more at ease. But I promise you it will be worth it, although it is more complex in time and requires me a little practice before I also have the finished one, it shows us basic postures in stick figures, but invites us to try our own styles, so I'm finishing exploring a little more my examples and see where I'm more comfortable.
