Well, I sort of saw this coming! The Sixers had lost nine straight and just announced Embiid's out for the season but of course the Sixers come out with the win! Sixers logic, I swear. While the win didn't do any favors for the Sixers' draft position, it was nice to see when the Sixers only saw victory a whopping one time during the month of February. Quentin Grimes continues to shine in a Sixers uniform as he poured in an impressive 44 points (a career high) against the Warriors Saturday. Had Grimes made his six missed free throws, Grimes would have hit the fifty mark! I'm really liking what I am seeing from Grimes, he is strong and competitive and has a clean looking jumper. I hope he continues to see plenty of minutes going forward.
The Sixers still have a bit of work to do when it comes to actually making a meaningful playoff push but, this win was nice to watch. Hopefully this won't be the only victory during the month of March HA. I don't know what the organization prefers, winning or draft position? I personally just want to watch some wins, and deal with the off-season later. Odds are the Sixers will have a solid draft pick. I miss the years when teams actually just tried to win. These days it's just get a good draft pick or go for a championship. Nobody seems to believe in improving the roster over time and developing a deep team I feel. No chance at an underdog story nowadays! The Sixers in particular are allergic at keeping the same roster together for too long it seems.
Tonight, the Sixers are facing a scrappy Trail Blazers team. I'm curious to see how this one plays out after the Sixers finally saw victory on Saturday. Should be a fun one. Only so many Sixers games left now that the season is approaching 3/4 of the way done. I'm just going to enjoy the games while they are here!
