🖊️ COMMENTARY

It is always easy to worship when things are moving well for us. We Worship easily when God has provided food, good health, friends, family, money and other happy situations around us. But, circumstances are not always rosy. At tough times, how do you worship God? What do you do when He seems to be millions of miles away? Do you still worship Him with beams of smiles on your face?

The deepest level of worship is praising God in time of pain; thanking
God during a trial; trusting him when tempted; surrendering while suffering and loving Him when He seems very far away.

Friendship is often tested by separation and silence. To determine the level of your friendship with God, He tests it with periods of seeming separation. At such times, it feels as if He has abandoned or forgotten you. At such a time, He may just sit and watch, though working out something good for you in His silence.

Besides Jesus, David probably had the closest friendship with God than anyone else - which explains why God called him "A man after my own heart." Yet, from the text we read today, we see that David frequently Complained of God's apparent absence. Even in the face of God's silence, David still praised God. He was mocked. His strength left him. He passed through humiliations from people of lesser class. Yet, he held on to God.

Every believer goes through trying and tough periods several times in life. We should be steadfast during difficult times, knowing it is for our own good. God is only maturing us and making us stronger and ready for greater exploits. If you find yourself in such condition, wait patiently. The situation surely will turn around for your good.
