Hello friends, good vibes to all.
When you see actors like Richard Gere, Michael Fassbender and Jeffrey Wright in a series, I think it can be an indication that what you are about to see is of a higher quality than what we usually consume. The Agency is a series from the folks at Paramount+ that really is a gem because of the level of plot, the characters, the way it tells the story and because I think it's a good x-ray of how the world works today at those levels of intelligence and counterintelligence. There may be a bit of fiction but I don't think there is too much. It is a very well done political thriller.
It begins with Martian, Brandon or Paul Lewis (Michael Fassbender), a CIA agent whose specialty is covert operations. While in Sudan he meets Samia (Jodie Turner-Smith) with whom he falls in love even knowing all the risks that could bring. One day Martian is asked to return to London and abandon the false life he had built up, but that was a hard blow for him from which he never recovered so easily. Everything changes when Samia unexpectedly appears in London, this makes our agent break security protocols and ignore instructions from his superiors which we will see how it will pose a great danger to his true identity, his career and even his family.

But this is far from being a love story, the issue here is that this “romance” complicates Martian's stability within the agency so we may see some cracks. In parallel there is also a situation of extraction of an agent who was captured in Ukraine; the infiltration of another agent in the Iranian nuclear program and to close because the truth is that Samia may have sensitive information that may be of interest to the United States which will complicate the plot even more. When I say that the plot is a thriller is because the level of intrigue, tension and drama in the streets of London and the offices of the agency is very high.
What really catches my attention is that it is a series that makes many references to current world politics, even with existing characters and organizations, but here they change their names for obvious reasons. Seeing how things could move, the decisions, meetings and negotiations is something that arouses a lot of interest because we imagine that in those ways could perfectly happen in real life. All this makes the series incredibly entertaining, there is no room for boredom, the ability it has to immerse the viewer in all the subplots that there are very top and effective. In addition to that the series has a perfect speed, when it needs to be dynamic it is but when calm is required it does not hesitate to put on the brakes.
There's a little bit of everything, it's a combination of action because if there's any of that with everything that comes with getting into that situation. The characters are very sober. Seeing Richard Gere again is a luxury, to see him on the small screen in a series so well done, I repeat, it's spectacular. Fassbender is also at the height, in itself is a very good actor so seeing him in this format is rare but at the same time full of quality performances. I think that in general the cast is very complete, even the “secondary” actors perform at a very high level. I highlight here Saura Lightfoot-Leon who plays the undercover agent in Iran. First time I've seen her and I really liked her work.
One of the best series I've seen lately, it's already known that there will be a second season so its ending makes a little more sense. I give it an 8.5/10. Solid in all aspects. 10 episodes of 50 minutes approximately. I leave the trailer here.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to everyone, see you next time!
