Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - El humo de mi fasito: Damas Gratis

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

After I finished going through the hundred songs provided by Spotify that I listened to the most in the last year, I have thought of adding songs of my choice from my "Like" list that has more than 1000 songs. The last song I talked about in my last post was: Canción de Alicia En El Pais of the argentine group Seru Giran.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is El humo de mi fasito of the argentine cumbia group Damas Gratis. Damas Gratis is one of the most recognized “villera” cumbia groups in Argentina. It is a group that is usually present in the most famous discotheques/boliches of the country, where whenever they play they always fill all the establishments.

During my last years of high school, I used to go out to Pinar de Rocha, one of the most famous discotheques in Buenos Aires, located in Ramos Mejía. We would go there from time to time, especially during the time of the graduation parties, which were almost always held there. Many of the times I went to Pinar, this group always played, so I ended up knowing their most recent songs like Costumbres, No te creas tan importantes, Me vas a extrañar and Me Muero de Amor.

The song that I bring today, is not one of their most recent, but it is a few years old and was in the first stage of success in the group. El Humo de mi Fasito must be one of the most famous songs of their oldest stage along with Se te ve la tanga.

Damas Gratis is a cumbia villera band formed by Pablo Lezcano in the 00's decade. Its leader, Pablo Lezcano, already had a lot of experience as a keyboardist, since he participated in cumbia bands like Amar Azul.

Their first album was a complete success: Para los pibes. It included one of their most famous songs called “Se te ve la tanga".

El Humo de mi fasito was released in 2004 in a live concert. It has 44 million plays on the Spotify platform and 7.4 million on Youtube.
