    Hello Needlework Lovers 😊

Crochet Projects are fun when done during leisure hours and leisure time is one thing I haven't had the liberty of experiencing these few days as it has been one lecture after another:(

Luckily, I started this crochet project sometime back and for some weird reason, I was reluctant to finish it up. I derived the inspiration to make this project after I made a crochet sleeveless cardigan with the same yarn colours; which turned out okay.

    • Black and gold yarns
    • 4.0mm hook
    • Measuring tape

    • Darning needle

    Procedure

First off, I started with a magic circle. I haven't quite mastered the art of magic circles so I went ahead to chain three and slip stitch into the first chain while making the second part of the bag.

After making the magic ring or chain three rings as the case may be, I made a cluster of three, chained two and made another cluster.

I repeated this till I got a for a total of twelve clusters and four corners.

After this step, I fastened off and changed my yarn colour. One might decide to maintain the same colour till the very end. It's all about choice.

With the new yarn colour, I made a cluster of three, chained two and made another cluster into the same space. After this, I moved to the next corner and repeated the same process.

Once I was done, I changed yarn colour once again, ensuring I worked over my loose ends.

A cluster chain two and another cluster in every corner. Also, cluster in every other space. This was the pattern which I followed till I finished the project.

I made a total of sixteen tows with a significant increase in each row. I was careful to make this crochet tote bag wide enough to carry all the necessary items I would need to carry.

After making the two sides of the bag, I went ahead to make the bag handle. I chained a number of chains long enough to go round my hands and after that, I went into every stitch of the chain with single crochet stitches. I repeated this four times and after the fourth round, I was satisfied with the width and the look of the bag handle.

After this, I went ahead to attach the handles to the bag parts. In the same light, I made single crochet stitches round all the edges of the bag parts to give it a smooth finish.

Immediately after, I joined both parts of the project using single crochet stitches and if I'm being honest, I how it looked after joining on the wrong side.

With that, I came to the end of the project. The thought of attaching a black bow came to mind but I felt it would take away the original simplicity of the crochet tote bag.

What do you think of the final result? Does it look too busy? Do you like the pattern I used or not? How about the colours? Your observations and opinions are very much welcome.

    Until next time, stay creative
