Today is "Easter Thursday" and here in my country there are generally two ways to spend these days of rest and religious commemoration. One is "in full revelry and feasting with friends and family" and the other is: "praying and/or visiting temples and attending various rituals"... I respect all that and among my family and friends I have those who do it in one way or the other... But both ways are quite far from my preferences for spending time, so I am here in my little studio, sitting in front of my PC, listening to some classical music ("Happy Bach" I recommend it by the way) and editing some pictures I made this month which I consider interesting...
Hoy es "Jueves Santo" y aquí en mi país generalmente hay dos maneras de pasar estos días de asueto y conmemoración religiosa. Una es "en pleno jolgorio y haciendo comilonas con amigos y familiares" y la otra es: "rezando y/o visitando templos y asistiendo a rituales diversos"... Respeto todo eso y entre mi familia y amigos tengo quienes lo hacen de una u otra manera... Pero ambas maneras distan bastante de mis preferencias para pasar el tiempo, así que estoy aquí en mi pequeño estudio, sentado en frente mi PC, escuchando algo de música clásica ("Happy Bach" lo recomiendo por cierto) y editando algunas fotos que hice este mes las cuales considero interesantes...

I have this little studio in my mother's house. I have used the room where my father died to keep my PC, some of my photography equipment, a small couch and a printer here, all very simple and functional... My wife and our youngest daughter, the only one who still lives with us, have gone to spend these days of rest by the sea with my brothers-in-law and other relatives... So I'm here at home with my octogenarian (but tireless) mother who I'm just watching through the window doing gardening things under a blazing sun and a temperature of 38°C... Now that's energy for sure!... :))
Tengo este pequeño estudio en la casa de mi madre. He usado la habitación en donde murió mi padre para tener aquí mi PC, algunos de mis equipos para fotografía, un pequeño diván y una impresora, todo muy sencillo y funcional... Mi esposa y nuestra hija menor, la única que aún vive con nosotros, se han ido a pasar estos días de asueto a orilla del mar junto con mis cuñados y otros familiares... Así que yo estoy aquí en casa acompañando ami octogenaria (pero incansable) madre a quien precisamente estoy mirando por la ventana hacer cosas de jardinería bajo un sol abrazador y unos 38°C de temperatura... ¡Eso sí que es tener energía caray!... :))

These dozen street photographs have in common the fact that they were taken from a more intimate point of view. They are photos of relative simplicity, but at the same time full of elements and a manifest intentionality directly related to my way of seeing things. These are photos with an accentuated level of intimacy and their titles may give that away. These photos were my catharsis today and I believe that in my mind I had already planned to take advantage of an interval of solitude and isolation like today to select and process them. In these photos there are people, houses, things and animals (in fact that's what I first wanted to name this post, but then I gave up). It is a kind of publication which I like to build on the very character of the photos used for this.
Esta docena de fotografías callejeras tienen en común el haber sido hechas con un punto de vista más intimo. Son fotos de relativa simpleza, pero al mismo tiempo repletas de elementos y de una manifiesta intencionalidad directamente relacionada con mi manera de ver las cosas. Estas son fotos con un nivel de intimidad acentuado y sus títulos puede que delaten eso. Estas fotos fueron mi catarsis de hoy y creo que en mi mente ya había planeado aprovechar un intervalo de soledad y aislamiento como hoy para seleccionarlas y procesarlas. En estas fotos hay personas, casas, cosas y animales (de hecho así quería primeramente nombrar este post, pero luego desistí).. Es un tipo de publicación la cual me gusta construir partiendo del carácter mismo de las fotos usadas para esto.

En mi cabeza sentí que estas fotos fueron capturadas por mí con la idea fija de procesarlas y editarlas en colores. Sin embargo, mi adicción por la fotografía monocromática es cuando menos "muy seria" así que hice un par de pruebas con estas fotos (ya en formato JPG) y las desaturé al 100% para luego dedicar algunos minutos a hacer ajustes de niveles sobre ellas y... ¡Me gustó como se veía esto!... Así que aquí están también para ustedes las versiones monocromáticas de mis fotos de hoy...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
