The Real Superheroines of Hive Valley
Don't get Miss Fury angry. You won't like her when she's angry.
I'm happy with this fight scene so far. Trying to make a fluid transition from frame to frame. You probably can't tell when reading at the panel-a-day rate, but check out this sequence.
- Miss Fury opens with a big spin kick.
- Fury slips the right cross.
- Muscles follows up the right with a left, which Fury counters with a palm strike.
Which leads to today's jumping knee to the face. Notice that it is essentially a left-right combo, but switching from hands to legs. This sort of continual back and forth fisticuffs doesn't always happen in the comics when guys with super strength are slugging it out. Because after every hit there is the inevitable quarter mile of "knockback" from the hit.
I had mentioned X-Men #177 before as one of the first modern comic fight sequences that impacted me. Here it is (oh, this is two pages, so "read" the left side first):
When dealing with normal street-level fighters, this is the kind of choreographed fight scene I try to emulate. Also, I am all about skipping drawing the backgrounds!
