Feed, Chiro, PDC, Vit D, Trailer, Diatomaceous Earth, Heat - Thursday

in voilk •  4 months ago

Crisp and cold morning yesterday but it warmed quickly once the sun came up. I headed into my chiro appointment after getting the boys to school earlier, and it was wonderful after all the shit shoveling I had done the day before. On my way home I stopped at the farm store to pickup chick starter grower for the 25 turkey chicks that will be here next week. I got 5 bags but that only makes 200 pounds and I need to get another 2 bags to make sure I have 10 pounds of feed available per bird. The bags all got dumped into a barrel in the coop awaiting the chicks.

The PDC premiere league night 6 was on and it was SUPER nice to watch MVG lose badly to Cross. Luke Humphries went on to win the night for his first nightly of the season. Perter Wright got SOOOO close to getting his first points but lost the match dart.

The sun was nice and warm but air still had a crispness to it. I spent a good bit of time out around the farm soaking in the vitamin D, or what scant bits are available with the sun so low in the sky still.

After picking the boys up from school I got the trailer hooked up and the barrels loaded for the grain run I have already done this morning. The bed liner is working great for hauling the grain but I'm just running out of places to put the grain now.

The greenhouse is getting HOT in the sun and the S9 is overheating if I don't open the end flaps and give some cold outside air. I had set it up mid day and noticed that some of the spinach have been eaten by something. The mad me a mad panda so I went and got my bag of Diatomaceous earth and the huge syringe. I fill the syringe with the DE and use the plunger to pump the dust out in a nice billowing cloud. I'm hoping that the DE will deter whatever it is that is nibbling my plants.

It's mainly on the far end that the plants are getting eaten so I did not dust the rest of the rows. I can at anytime so will just keep an eye everything. I have to make sure to close the flap and the greenhouse before dark though since it was 20F overnight.

The boys made dinner as @stryeyz nor I had any idea what to make. We caught up on shows while eating then got out to soak a bit earlier than normal. @stryeyz ordered herself darts so we will have a few sets now to throw with and I am going to make a new stand that will hold all of our sets.

I have been to town for grain this morning already, got gas on the way home, will get the boys to school in a while, then I have to figure out where the hell I am going to dump this grain, the Belgian Darts open is on today, constant cleanup around the farm, lessons early, pick the boys up, then a fire in the evening and grilling for dinner.
