After Chamizo for the Street Art Contest #235, we continue to discover StreetArt and the artists present in the city of Saint-Etienne in France. Today, it's the duo Ella & Pitr who are in the spotlight, along with other artists I'll let you discover in this post.

La murale se trouve presque au coin de la rue du Général Leclerc et de la rue Gambetta, au centre ville de Saint-Etienne en France.

Ella & Pitr

Ella & Pitr is an artist duo based in Saint-Etienne and working together since 2007. They are best known for their sleeping colossi painted on rooftops or the ground visible only from the air. I recommend a visit to their Instagram account to discover their work, or check out StreetArt #110 for a giant but on a wall also in the city of Saint-Etienne.

Ella & Pitr est un duo d'artistes basé à Saint-Etienne et travaillant ensemble depuis 2007. Ils sont surtout connu pour leur colosses endormis peints sur les toits ou le sol visible seulement par les airs. Je vous conseille une visite de leur compte Instagram pour découvrir leurs oeuvres ou alors voir StreetArt #110 pour un géant sur un mur aussi dans la ville de Saint-Etienne.

Ella & Pitr

In a different style, Ella & Pitr created this pastiche of old advertisements with The Toothbrush that Makes You Laugh and The Cream that Softens Walls. Really cool, it brings a little happiness to this rather sad street.

Dans un autre style, Ella & Pitr a réalisé ce pastiche de vieilles publicités avec La brosse à Dents qui fait Rire et La Crème qui adoucit les murs. Vraiment cool, cela met un peu de bonheur dans cette rue un peu triste.

André Garzéna

Even with the name clearly indicated on the right, I couldn't find any information about this mural or even the artist André Garzéna. This giant breast-feeding a child is rather nice, with an interesting message. Even the date remains a mystery; according to Google, the mural has been present since 2014, but not in 2011.

Même avec le nom clairement indiqué sur la droite, je n'ai trouvé comme information sur cette murale ou même l'artiste André Garzéna. Ce géant allaitant un enfant est plutôt sympathique avec un message intéressant. Même la date reste un mystère, d'après Google, la murale est présente depuis 2014, mais pas en 2011.

Tepio TopTen

In downtown Saint-Etienne, there are works all over the place, including this one featuring a character from children's literature, the book series about this lion called Lionel* 🔼. *Not too far away, there's an old billboard that was used for a better purpose, allowing an artist to display a work for a few months. It was this version when I passed by in June last year. Great initiative...

Dans le centre ville de Saint-Etienne, il y a un peu partout des oeuvres dont cette oeuvre avec un personnage de la littérature pour enfants, la série de livre sur ce lion appelé Lionel 🔼. Pas très loin, il y a un ancien panneau publicitaire qui a été utilisé dans un meilleur but, en permettant à un artiste d'afficher une oeuvre pendant quelques mois. C'était cette version quand je suis passé en juin de l'année dernière. Cool initiative...

I end this post with this collage of some pretty cool lettering. And that's it for Saint-Etienne. Tomorrow we're off to Lyon, the region's soccer rival. A favorite work today?

Je termine ce post avec ce collage d'un lettrage plutôt cool. Et cela sera terminé pour Saint-Etienne. Demain, nous partons sur Lyon, la ville rivale de la région surtout à cause du foot. Une oeuvre préférée aujourd'hui ?
