Marry My Husband and Perfect Marriage Revenge - a twin drama?

in voilk •  5 months ago

For the past days I was not posting on the platform, I found time to enjoy my kdramas.

A video clip of a kdrama on facebook that showed my country as the location in one of the scenes finally got me to download another app, Loklok. There are interesting kdramas I love to watch which are not on netflix, I found there.

Subsequently, I watched two kdramas which are similar in major ways. These are the kdramas titled Marry My Husband which is an ongoing drama and the other kdrama is titled Perfect Marriage Revenge. Both dramas have a rating of 7.9 on imdb.

How are these two dramas similar?

    Spoilers ahead!

    The Storyline

The storyline is similar. These dramas are about revenge and romance. The striking similarity can be noticed in the first episode. Both dramas started with a scene that showed the pitiful situations of the protagonists in the drama.

Let me start with Marry My Husband. The scene started with Kang, Ji won in a hospital for cancer treatment. She was suffering from gastric cancer. Her bestfriend Jeong, Su-min often came to visit her, comforted her and showed her how she is "the best friend" she ever had but only to discover later that her husband cheated with her bestfriend. They were even plotting how to reap off money from her when she's dead by subscribing to an insurance policy and even contemplating on pushing her on a cliff just to have her dead already so they can collect insurance money. Ji-won caught them red-handed on their marital bed. The confrontation led to verbal and physical fight. The husband pushed her hard that she fell and hit her head on a glass table that caused her to bleed and die.

On the other hand, Perfect Marriage Revenge started with a Han Yi-joo lovingly painting a picture of her family which she then brought to an art exhibit managed by her sister Han, Yoo-ra. In the exhibit she saw her husband with a sweet smile on his face, lovingly watching her sister as she discussed the painting on the exhibit. She tried to ignore the reality on her face though she knew it was undeniable.

During an auction on that event, a buyer of a painting revealed how the paintings auctioned were fake and Han Yi-joos's mom who was responsible of acquiring the paintings was arrested for fraud. But instead of going down alone, she asked the most unhinged favor from Han, Yi-joo, that is to admit to the police that she was the one painting all the fake paintings. She went on pressuring her as she felt indebted to them for adopting her. And while driving her car crying and confused, she met an accident that led to her death.

Moments before their death, were flashbacks of how pathetic their lives realizing that the people who they consider family/friend were the same people who betrayed them and made their lives miserable.

After a moment of death, they woke up as if it was a nightmare but it wasn't and they realized they returned back in time when they were not yet married.

With the second chance they were given, they were determined to steer the wheel and change their fate.

    The Twists

Another striking similarity of the dramas are the twist. In the succeeding episodes, it was found out that the male protagonists in each story with their love for the female protagonists, also came back in time with them and they were there to help them in any way so they won't have to suffer the same fate.

Another twist revealed was the connection between protagonist and antogonists in each drama. In Marry My Husband, it was always a question why Jiwon's bestfriend hated her and wanted to take everything from her. While in Perfect Marriage Revenge, it was a question why her adoptive mother and sister hated her so much.

    What set these dramas apart

Though similar story line, the plot is quite different. I find the scenes and the minor twists of Marry My Husband more enticing and more intense than the other drama. Seeing how the protagonist play her cards to turn her fate upside down was exciting. It's like playing chess. Her transformation personality wise was heart racing. It has more interesting characters too like how the antagonist couple were crafted in humorous way. There's another female antagonist too that showed up in later episodes steering the plot in another level.

Though the ending of Marry My Husband is yet to be revealed in its last episodes this coming week I don't have a good feeling about it though that it will end with a happy note. But I really do hope it will end well. 🤞🙏 On the other hand, Perfect Marriage Revenge ended well as how I always wanted a drama to end- happy and satisfying.

Overall, these dramas are enjoyable to watch if you are into revenge drama and romantic comedy genre, these two are a good watch. But if I am to rate the two, Marry My Husband will have to higher rate than Perfect Marriage Revenge for me.

Til the next drama. Thank you for reading.

    Enjoy the weekend!
