What if God really did answer your prayer?
You're just rejecting the packaging. So God sees your need in the midst of what you're praying for. And sometimes he'll answer your prayer in a package that looks unappetizing to you, because he saw what you were really asking for when you prayed it.
You ever see a baby crying for a bottle just because they see it?
And then when you give it to them, they start drinking it, but they were already fed. The real problem was they needed their diaper to be changed because they were uncomfortable
We don't really know the source of what we need. We just know that we need something and we're looking for it where we think it's supposed to come from. We ask for things out of our imperfection, but God answers in his perfection.
When your brokenness was talking, you really wanted something else.
When your unforgiveness was talking, you just wanted to feel safe. You just wanted to feel like you weren't going to have to go through that again. Maybe you asked for a relationship because you just wanted to feel like you could depend on somebody, but God let you go from your job.
And now you're mad at God, but God is just trying to show you that there's no one more dependable in your life than him. You wanted to lose a certain amount of weight by Christmas, but God allowed it to take longer because he's like, okay, I see that the root of this is insecurity in comparison.
You have to know how to love yourself as you work to become better. A lot of the times God is answering your prayer, but we're just limiting the type of answer that we're receptive of.
Lord, help your people to trust you and trust that you know what's best for them,
even when it doesn't make sense to them.
