confidence and self-esteem are often used when discussing the characteristics that enable an individual’s success and greatness. Self-belief elevates the individual’s willingness to take risks, confront obstacles and achieve objectives. From one perspective confidence and self-esteem can be seen as components of a positive disposition, fortitude and determination, which are the essential qualities for success in any endeavors.
To be self-confident is to believe in one self’s competence, abilities, and judgment. It is about the confidence that one can accomplish the goals and aspirations. When people are confident about themselves, they will more often than not try things which could be a risk and result in success. Their willingness to step beyond their comfort levels and engage in different activities is also a result of their comprehension that failure is just part of the better process of discovering what works or what doesn’t.
Self confidence is concurrent with the self esteem since the latter refers to an individual’s evaluation of himself. Individuals who have good self esteem usually do not doubt their ability to do certain things. They do not care much about what others think or say about them and especially about their performance since such people have a very high opinion of themselves. To those with high self-esteem, the challenges and disappointments are mere episodes because they believe they can rise above them.
Self-belief is the first step of the ladder to greatness. It motivates a person to aim at a very high target and strive towards reaching it, even with the lingering possibility of failure. This means that confidence and self-esteem are also the sources of the motivation which propels individuals forward in the face of difficulties however they are great and is what enables them to overcome challenges and barriers.
Self-assuredness and self-respect are also appealing traits that attract others to us. People instinctively tend towards individuals who appear certain and self-possessed. Such a belief also makes it possible for others to extend their trust and support when pursuing any given action. This can pave the way for pursuing further expanding and successful ones such as business or even relationships.
Nevertheless, gaining confidence and self-esteem can be a daunting task. Most people tend to doubt their capabilities, are afraid of taking risks, and often have a low regard for themselves. Self-belief and a good self-image take a lot of time and conscious practice to build. For instance, practicing positive self-affirmations and self-talk is one method that can assist in up surging an individual’s self-esteem and confidence. Instead of thinking negatively about oneself, people can choose to believe they can be better, and be able to lead good lives.
Another mode of enhancing confidence and self-esteem whole acknowledging most, if not all, the accomplishments achieved. It is equally critical to celebrate even the small wins, otherwise the individual run the risk of fostering an extreme belief in their own abilities. Also, it is very important to surround oneself with encouraging people who believe in all their abilities.

If a person has faith in their abilities, there is always a way of walking around, through or over barriers, and sometimes even towards them. Confidence and self-esteem are the spark and the engine of persistence, especially when confronted with adversity. While growing these particular skills takes time and dedication to achieve, they readily offer a pay-off. When one has the right attitude and believes in themselves genuinely, anything can be conquered. Have faith in yourself and people will respect you.
