Rooted cactus cutting & garden care

in voilk •  3 months ago

Hi there, people of Nature! ;)

Today I've had the inspiration (at last) to do some ACTUAL garden work, maybe just because of the good sunny weather and the common vibe.
My first task was to find a good temporary pot for one of my cacti.
It was growing roots in a ceramic pot all winter ~ inside the house in a cold dark room, when the rest of the company were going dormant :)

moved from the rest as it was the biggest cutting from last year

I have enough of good unused enriched soil in the backyard and plenty of left over compost...

I just need a medium small recycled pot for it, until it makes a bigger root system...

fill it up and cover the roots enough to hold the cactus, compress and water it! ;)
That's it & it's ready to have fun under the sun :)

    THEN

it was time to chop some of the bay leaf tree sprouts...

why not try to root them after we clean beneath the big tree?! :)

they make a good gift for friends!
people love growing bay leaf! :) it brings good fortune! ;)

Topinambours / jerusalem artichokes / sunchokes showing up after some pieces were planted 2-3 months ago...
I keep them in a create because they go wild and take over the whole backyard :) not a bad thing when you harvest full crates of them in winter... BUT there is always some chunk left below the earth and they invade the rest of the place :) Had to dig the whole bed last time... because of that!
