Oxyopes salticus is a species of small-eyed spider belonging to the Oxyopidae family. I found it in the forest area where I live. This spider is often found in the United States and Brazil.
The Oxyopes salticus spider measures approximately 8 to 10 centimeters with a yellowish brown color with black stripes. The shape of this spider species is long and slender with round eyes, long legs and small spines making it strong for jumping.
The habitat of this spider can be found throughout the world, especially in tropical and subtropical areas, usually roaming in grasslands, bushes and open forests. This spider is active during the day, in fact the unit of this spider acts as an active hunter and does not make a web as a where they live, they usually prey on small insects such as flies, butterflies and ants.
This spider has a large number of legs so it can run quickly to hunt its prey. Another fact is that the female is larger than the male and the female lives longer than the male. This spider's mating season is summer, the eggs are laid in protected cocoons. After the egg hatches, the baby spider will come out of the cocoon in a few weeks.
Today I went to the forest to look for some animals that I could take macro photos of and immortalized them here, above is the forest where I took photos of the axyopes salticus spider and I found it on the leaves.
I'm going to put this ( Oxyopes salticus unique small-eyed spider )
into a daily #monomad contest organized and curated by @monochromes
