My oyster plant has blooms
This is my post for #freewriters 2526 prompt no rain on the plain hosted by @mariannewest
This prompt makes me think about the saying, the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain, but the prompt is about no rain on the plain. Rain is something we do not need any more of, it is starting to dry up in our yard but a lot of our areca palms are still sitting in water. I am glad it does not hurt them, they seem to like all of the water.
I went to the UP store, aka the cheap store, today with my sister. When we pulled in the parking lot we knew something was going on, the parking lot was full. After finding a parking spot we noticed 4 police cars in some of the parking spots, then when we got to the front of the store, there were 3 more parked by the front door.
We were leary about going into the store but people were coming out like nothing was going on. We looked for a shopping cart and could not find one so my sister followed someone to their car to get theirs.
Once inside she saw someone she knew and found out they were giving away some things for hurricane relief, but we had to fill out paperwork to get them. The paperwork was only our names and addresses and e-mails. They gave us a list of things and we were to pick out which items we wanted, we could pick all of them but I only took the things that I knew I could use.
They had several tables set up from different organizations, like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Mental Health organization, and some others, one table was giving out 25 dollar food vouchers to use in their store.
I asked why they were doing this and they said it was hurricane relief items. I choose a shovel, tarp, vinyl gloves, bottled water, dog and cat food and alcohol wipes. I gave the cat food to my sister. They had canned goods, can openers, MRIs, and a few other things that I can not remember but I did not need those items.
I was only going to stop at those two tables but when I went by one table they had Narcan, I stopped and talked to the lady. I have been wanting to get some of this to keep at the house, after talking with the lady, she gave me 4 boxes, and I pray I will never need to use it. I will give my son a box to keep with him. One time he had to give a friend CPR until the ambulance arrived because of an overdose, he has had several people he knows pass from overdose. If my son ODs I hope one of his friends will use it on him. I will keep some of them to have here at the house in case something happens with my daughter, she overdosed one time and the people she was with took her to the hospital and rolled her out of the car at the ER entrance. Even though it was a terrible thing to just leave her like that, I am thankful they did.
