En la décima tercera jornada del Torneo clasificatoria organizado por Conmebol para el próximo mundial del 2026, la selección de Venezuela nuevamente pierde en condición de visitante, en esta oportunidad fue contra el combinado de Ecuador quienes tuvieron un placentero encuentro en donde dominaron en el juego, actitud y compromiso lo cual los posiciona (por ahora) en el segundo lugar de tabla clasificatoria, en cambio, a La Vinotinto sigue en el octavo lugar.

Venezuela no gana un encuentro por la clasificatoria desde octubre del 2023 y está es una estadística es contundente y la única explicación del porqué La Vinotinto está tan cerca de nuevamente de quedar fuera del máximo torneo de fútbol; este equipo no se cansa de repetir los mismos errores lo cual les cuesta sacar adelante a encuentros, los cuales son la nula concentración y la poca o nula idea de un juego que puede favorecer a los jugadores que son parte del equipo; en esto existe una gran culpa con respecto al entrenador "Bocha" Batista, quien parece no encontrar una solución para esta problemática de ya casi dos años y que para él, el planteamiento actual es el correcto en dónde se usa a los mismos jugadores que no aportan nada positivo o diferente al equipo.
Posiblemente, la derrota de esta nueva jornada de clasificatoria se pueda minimizar con el uso de jugadores para nada habituales en la selección, todo a causa de que en esta oportunidad se enfrentó a un rival favorecido por la condición de local en dónde existe una altura de más de 2800 metros al nivel del mar y eso siempre afecta a los jugadores venezolanos (en este caso), pero la realidad es que a pesar de que el equipo estuvo conformado por los pocos habituales, estoy convencido de que se pudo hacer una mejor convocatoria y más cuando el plan era no usar a los llamados titulares. Sé que para este caso el plan ideado era el no perder, sumar un punto y arriesgarlo todo para el encuentro contra un rival directo como lo es Perú, pero todo se tira a la basura cuando hacer jugar a jugadores que no sabes ni cómo es el desempeño que ofrecen en las ligas en dónde juegan y lo cual considero que es otro factor influyente de los malos resultados.

El sentimiento que tiene el venezolano con respecto a como se está manejando la selección es de frustración; el equipo demostró frescura, una idea clara y buen juego al comienzo de este torneo clasificatorio, pero llegó un momento en dónde las ideas del staff técnico y la actitud de los jugadores se fue para abajo; los malos resultados, más que nada, el no ganar ha restado la posibilidad a este equipo de alcanzar por primera vez un mundial y es molesto porque clasifican hasta seis selecciones y una disputa un repechaje y aunque todavía faltan 5 encuentros por disputar, no existe (por ahora) esa fe que tanto se creía tener en un comienzo; es triste porque este ciclo de no ganar parece que estuviera lejos de terminar.
